I used about 1/100th of a cent worth of camo duct tape to achieve a silent carabiner.

I might have to retro fit these on my older lines. I like the protection they offer to the elements. Nothing like some freezing rain to keep you locked into or out of your lifeline :busted:

It's nice not having to worry about the clanking too.

Since this is my first year back bowhunting where I am actually in a tree stand I have only set my lifeline up in two different trees. but neither time has the carabiner come close to hitting my sticks. Perhaps just lucky in how I set the sticks.

I think these are a good idea, only have one problem. From what I've read, if you leave the lifeline up all season like I am, you should replace them after a couple seasons because the rope will weaken from exposure. The biners and now this rubber cow bell are not going to wear out but in two years I will be replacing them because new ones will come on the next lifeline. Just sell the lifeline without the biner or cowbell and help us hunters save a few bucks.

They tell you to do that so they don't get sued. Mine are going on year 2 but I'm guessing they'll last many more, I sure hope so I have 13 lifelines and need a few more before all is said and done. But than again it's kinda a big gamble so I can understand if you change them every couple years. It is a good point you have though. In 20 years you'll have a pile of biners and cowbells lol.

Heat shrink tubing works well and is cheap.

Have you had a problem with the new reflective line spooking deer? I want to buy a 3 pack but I don't want something that could possibly spook deer.

I had the same thought. My stands that have reflector linemans rope were hardly used this year so I don't have any input on that but I'm hoping the deer just get used to them being in their area for 4-5 months a year. I try to get them up a month or two early. But being the cautious person I am I wish they didn't come with the reflecting rope to be honest. I will add the HSS ropes I bought a couple years ago are holding up so much better than the green Big Game ropes, which are fraying in areas, I bought at the same time. Worth spending a couple extra bucks for the HSS IMO.

Ok i just looked on Amazon you can still buy HSS lifelines 3 packs that don't reflect but they don't come with the cowbell, gotta buy those separate than it seems and spend more $.

Great info, thanks for posting. I have 7 lifelines but only three with the cowbell cover. Also loving the new reflective lifelines

So, do the cow bell's keep the knots from freezing up? I've had a problem with that in the past.

Not the knots but it will keep the carabiner from freezing.
