Act of stupidity on my part this afternoon. This morning we spotted a great 135" 4x4. I set out this afternoon to hang a stand near his travel route. I was 20' up a tree when it happened. The next thing I know i'm falling towards the ground, fast. I have no idea what I did, it happened so fast. I believe a lost my footing and grabbed a small limb for balance. I layed on the ground for about 5 minutes afraid to move, luckily I am ok. before anyone states the obvious, yes I am an idiot. I was not wearing a harness or linemans belt. Afterall, when your 21 your indestructable. EVERYONE please, please wear your harnesses' out there. The small level of discomfort or time consumed is not worth the possible consequences. I believe I am more lucky than i'm thinking, 20' is a long way up there.
20'?! You're lucky to be alive! Glad you're alright but I'd scratch two of those nine lives off the list for that one. Whew!
Yeah it's tough, buddy of mine fell 18' last year while wearing a harness....He always ties off once in stand, and when he stepped over onto his stand (old rickety thing) the platform fell from beneath him and gave way to quite the plunge. He was banged up with some broken ribs but made it back in the tree a week later. Count your blessings!
If you had gone to an E.R., you would have been treated as a trauma patient. Glad you're ok. I'd say you're lucky..
The good lord was looking out for you today. You are past lucky on that one. I hope you still feel good in the morning. Thats one of those things where you feel fine now, but may be feeling completely different when you wake up. Glad your ok.
Glad you're ok. Looks like you misused your chance to stay home and buy a lottery ticket. Had to be some scary stuff. Hopefully this thread will help people without a harness take advantage of the free ones in the other thread. Doesn't get any simpler than saying "hey I need one" Link: http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?t=16845 Just opened the USA Today and had this article on top of page 3 http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2010-11-04-hunting04_ST_N.htm
Praise The Lord .. and I mean that LITERALLY! He was definitely watching over you, son ... now you need to find a reason
Glad you're OK bud. Falling out is the hardest way to learn that lesson. Like others have said, get a harness and wear it religiously. You're one of the lucky ones. All it takes it one bad fall and you'll be out of commission permanently.
