Trevor, If were going to use history for today's evaluation, lets narrow it down to the last 3 years when Rodgers has actually been relevent. I see 35-11 regular season record, 4-2 postseason record, best QB rating EVER, Best TD-INT ratio EVER, with an MVP and a Super Bowl MVP/Title. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
It wasnt helmet to helmet that was called (at least IMO). It was the fact that he left his feet while Rodgers was in his throwing motion. 5 years ago id understand the critisizm. Today? Its the norm. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
Brady has been the better of the two this year... So whether you use history or the current season, Brady wins that argument... Rodgers is great and 10 years from now we may be talking about him as the best....but not yet. If you want to use a set number of years from the past and exclude others, be fair and compare Rodgers best few seasons to Brady's best few... Again Brady wins. One thing that impresses me the most about Brady that so many other greats failed to do (in any sport)...is to continue their dominance into their late 30s. Has any player in any major sport remained on top past the age of 35? Barry Bonds comes to mind but he has to have a huge asterisk by his name, lol. I love watching Rodgers, and he is neck n neck w Brady as who's the best currently... But Brady has been in that convo every year for a decade with _______ ( fill in the blank) as the qb he's compared to.
I also want to add that Randall Cobb is my favorite player in the NFL. He is scary good to be so young, he will be the Packs franchise receiver soon if he isn't already!
Cobb is the NFL's best player under the age of 23. He has taken the Packers #1 reciever spot from the injured Greg Jennings and because of it i doubt we resign him in the offseason. Cobb leads the NFL in all purpose yards, is on pace for his first 1000 yard receiving season and is top 15 in receptions. The next decade with him and Rodgers should be pretty exciting. No arguement. You dont get this one. Rodgers performance over the last 4 seasons is, like i said, statistically the greatest ever. Add in the wins and the hardware, and its all but even. Also untrue. Manning? Favre? Elway? Jordan? Kobe? Malone? Bonds? Ray Lewis? All greats, like Brady, all still dominant late. Peyton Manning. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
Manning is only now over the age of 35 playing, so thats yet to be seen. And I'm not talking all time greats having decent or good years past their prime, I'm saying athletes that are the best in the league still at age 35 or older. The list of players that were the best in the league of their prospective sport 35 or older is very very very short. MJ was at the age of 35, then retired. Bonds definitely was, and likely the best hitter ever (but was an obvious juicer along with the rest of the MLB rosters)... Lewis, Elway, Malone, Favre...all had good seasons but were never considered the best in the league in their old age. Kobe isnt even 35 yet, and isn't near the player he used to be nor is he near the top player in his sport currently (and that sucks to even say as a Lakers fan). I guess my point is, Brady is 35 and possibly playing better than ever as the best in his sport with no signs of slowing down. MJ was at that point but retired at 35. Bonds did it, but with the help of a syringe. Brady is there. I think Manning may make his mark on this list before its all over too, but he has yet to prove it. Very small, very elite list to be on.
