I checked a camera tonight that has been out since the middle of may. Besides having some nice bucks on it, it turns out there is a licking branch that is right in line with the camera. The camera is set up in a small clearing where two runs meet and head down a hill. I checked in some older posts, and people were saying don't try to change or tamper with the licking branch because it may cause deer to stop using it. I guess my question is, will they continue to use this spot throughout the year and straight through hunting season, or should I make a mock scrape 50 or so yards away? I didn't see a scrape while I was checking the camera, but I wasn't looking, and didn't notice til I was checking the pics. I spooked a few bucks on my way in and didn't want to spend more time than I needed there.
I have hunted those merge points and I seem to do well. he will continue to scrape there because of the merging trails. those are natural travel routes.
Just wait till october. There will be a scrape there. Perfect place for roaming bucks to check during the rut. Sounds like a good place for a stand. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
