With the increase in Mock Scrape threads of late, Im sharing my video compilation from last week. Im upstate bow hunting for the weekend and pulled the card from my licking branch/mock scrape Trial site location. The activity is picking up and the necks are starting to swell. Some of the young guys are up and on their feet during the day. I haven’t needed to refresh the branches with scent as you will see there is quite a variety of bucks depositing scent for me and they have created a scrape under the branch. I've had crap for luck making mock scrapes this year. I think next year I might do it like this and do the branch only and make them make the scrape. How often did you add scent to the branch to get it going? Also, what kind of branch (tree) is that?
Looks like you tied that branch on to an existing one? Did you do so for the leaves? Was hoping to get out yesterday to set one up, but that didn't happen. Halloween day will probably be when I do this. Not sure how long it takes to establish itself but if it can stop just one cruiser it will be worth it. Might even get late season action as well.
I added it once when I established the branch. You can see what happened the first 3 days after locating the branch and adding the scent in this video. Then card pull 2 Then the first time I hunted that licking branch.
I added the new branch because they tore up the first one. THey are very aggressive and destroyed my first branch. Deer (bucks and does) use a licking branch year round. They are always in season and good to have.
