This may come to a shock to some of you, but there are religious gays  And if a church wants to marry a gay couple, why should the government or anybody else be able to tell that church that they cannot marry that couple? I've said it before, but I shall repeat myself, the church should not be able to tell the government what to do, as the government should not be able to tell the church what to do.
That's why I said they can call it a legal union, and be legally binding. If their religion/church want's to marry them then that's fine, but obviously not all and most religions do not support gay marriage. I never understood why there was such a mix between religious marriage and legal marriage. To me, they are two totally separate things.
What if 2 gay men want to have a "religious marriage" and a religious church is willing to conduct the "religious marriage"? Who are you to say that the church should not be able to marry the couple?
Since it doesn't really seem to matter... what if a guy wants to marry his German Shepherd and receive legal recognition/protection under the law with full married tax credits, etc... ?
Hey! Let's get back to the topic at hand, which just so happens to be gay people in the NFL. This is serious business people!
:sigh: yeah because the German Shepherd can legally consent to the marriage. Why is this dumb question always brought up in gay marriage threads?
Here's a quote from my last response. "If their religion/church want's to marry them then that's fine." I'm not questioning their right, just stating the simple fact that MOST religions/ churches do not recognize gay marriage.
As far as the NFL players, why do homosexuals feel the need to announce to the world their sexual orientation? Do they have some complex about not being accepted because of who they are? Why do they always have to self promote their sexual preference. I'm sure there are guys in the NFL that have literally layed 1000's of women, but yet they are not announcing it to the world.
What happens if it is legal for gays to marry but the churches refuse? Will they be allowed to sue? What about insurance benefits for spouses of gay couples that work in a religious institution or hospital? Will a Catholic hospitals insurance be forced to cover gay spouses? What if they are self insured? This debate will get ugly. Imo, the feds need to stay out of it. It's a state issue and most states can't get it to pass a vote. sent from my samsung note 2
I wonder the same thing whenever I read questions like that. I have read and kinda understand when people compare the acts of homosexuality to beastiality(or similiar) in the sense that it is not natural so to speak or those kinds of acts go against the natural "design" of things but I don't see how that can be drawn into the ongoing marriage debate. Another aspect of this topic is there are a lot of folks out there that feel that if everyone consents then they should be able to marry whomever and however many they want. Whatever works for you I guess but I probably wouldn't be taking the fam to any of their cookouts.
Is it? 20 years ago homosexual marraige was apples to oranges. The simple truth is when asked how far can society go, noone wants to answer it because the homosexual fans are afraid of the answer.
The church should be able to marry whoever they desire, just like they should be able to refuse to marry someone. I don't understand this one... I agree, it should be a state issue.
