I have an area that is about 5-6 acres that I would really like to close off on both ends and make more secluded. It is shaped like a long skinny rectangle and it has woods on both sides. Half is grown up CRP and the other half is alfalfa that is part of a cow pasture I want to fence off from the cattle. That part is probably 4 acres of alfalfa. I am wanting to do a food plot of around an acre or so in this area. I know these trees grow fast 3-4 feet a year. What I am hoping to accomplish is that deer would stay in this area rather than just pass through it. I thought that if there were trees blocking the view of the trailer we rent out and the cows, it may give them a more secure feeling in this area. What do you guys think? Would these trees work or is there a faster growing or cheaper tree that grows the same pace?? Good Idea or no??
