Hey everyone, I saw something that intrigued me the other day. A lightweight, portable ladder stand. Has anyone used one of these? I haven't heard of Leverage tree stands but they look reputable. http://www.leveragetreestands.com/f...peedLadder_by_Leverage_Lightweight_Treestands Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I have seen it on T.v. Its a cool idea, but for the price of $400 I feel like you could get a Lone wolf hang on and a set of climbing sticks and set it up in the same amount of time you can set up that ladder stand.
My dad has the 18' ladder. It's not as easy to set up as they'd have you think. And certainly not quiet. I'm also not a fan of the seat. It's too close to the tree making it way too short (front to back). It'd be much better if they lengthened it another 2".
I use the 14 ft leverage speed ladder and have it up in 8 min. By myself. I treked it miles into deep public hunting areas with no problem and I'm no weightlifter it's only 38 lbs. I've harvested 7 deer with it so far since I've had it a year in all types of cover pines, bedding lines and oaks in Northeast Ohio where most hunters say to go up 20 feet. I've had an 8 pointer and a 10 pointer come right below it. Best of all, I can take it home at the end of the day!!
My thoughts are its still 38 lbs. To me that is still quite a bit of weight for a long haul with everything else I would need to pack in with it. I would speculate its not all that quiet during setup or use with all those pins. I think it would be OK for specific application but certainly wouldn't want to leave it up for extended periods on public ground even if it was locked up. The specific application would be on public ground that if foot accessible only and the trees are smaller and natsy with quite of bit of lower cover. From a marketing stand point they show setup with three guys??? I think they need to rethink that a bit. I guess if I had everything else I want it would be on my list.
Amazon, 14' version for $200...no thanks. I can buy a multitude of good ladders for anywhere in the $60-$100 range with a better seat and about as easy to set up. I'd prefer to have two stands for that price, don't see anything I can't live without in the leverage stand.
You big goof ball! Do you not have a fav manufacturer or model? Just the cheapest ones you can get your hands on?
LOL, I get along fine with the 16' Guide Gear stands. Amazon price ~$75 w/shipping. I find them on sale pretty often for less locally. Walmart stands are okay too. Some of them have a really narrow ladder or the seat is smallish but the two man stands are really nice (thought harder to set up alone) and are also pretty cheap, bought some for $100, normally $120-$130. *Edit, just checked amazon has two man stands for $110 with shipping.
