I have a new out of the box LW hang-on and 4 sticks.

Set it up in a tree in the back yard to air out and get weathered for a week.

    Smart idea?
    Don't waste my time?
Straps on the stand and sticks won't make a difference?

Curious to your thoughts and or what you have done with new stands to feel like they are ready for the woods.

I personally wouldn't waste my time, but it certainly won't HURT anything. Your call. Scent control is a LOT about personal confidence, if you feel it works then do it!

Spray the heck out of it with cover scent and hang it.

Let it air out in the woods for a a week or two. It wont hurt anything as long as its kept quite. Any deer that may happen to get spooked by any odor will get used to the odor and be back to their natural pattern by the time you hunt it.

I set mine in place about a month before season. I had trailcam pics the night after I hung the stand of deer coming through.

cool. I can't actually leave mine int he woods since it is public land but, my yard should exchange the smells of the factory with cats, dogs, and garbage:)

I usually rub dirt, leaves, pines, and what ever else I can get in my hands the minute I get into the woods on me and my gear so, the stand will get a good rub down on it's first hunt.
