In the market for a new early season pant, long sleeve shirt, etc. I currently have the under armor early season pants/shirts and love them, but looking for some different opinions. I also need a new leafy suit as mine is about 7 years old now lol.

    Any suggestions ?

Hunting NC (around the base) or NoVA/MD this fall? Not sure there's a big difference except temp probably cools a bit quicker up North...maybe?

I picked up the FL Corrugate pant last fall and it fit my needs for NC deer, CO elk (+base layer when it was cold) and this years NC Turkey. I've not sprung for their aerowool yet but I've been considering it as I think the llano will be too warm early NC Deer season.

The other big brands have decent options but I'm not as up to date on their lines.

Also if you're down near the coast this fall have you looked into bear (heavy N of Jacksonville) or hogs (S / SW).

I'll be doing as much hunting as I can both on base and when I go home to MD. I've found down here in NC it really doesn't get all that cold until Dec/Jan so I can pretty much get away with early season stuff with layering underneath. I'll check out the stuff you recommended!

I got my bear permit in 2015 just incase but never saw one or know enough about them not only hunting them but there general population down here. I know there is some on base but I haven't seen them. I am def interested in hunting them just have to do some research I suppose. How far North from Jacksonville are we talking ?

As far as hogs go from what I understand aren't they spotty around here? That would be a blast!

    Thanks for the reply

Supposedly Croatan and the land up through Nags head for bear. Though that area can be thick. Find a flyboy that hunts, flying out of the Auxiliary Field on 24 and he may have some info...

I know Emerald Isle usually does a special city hunt...I see a lot of deer off of Lifeguard rd when I'm down there.

Hogs are a problem, I think, between Wilmington and Fayetteville and about a 50 mi swath N/S of that line. (Hog farming country + occasional hurricanes = opportunity for ferals)

I'll look into it thanks! I've scouted the Croatan a few times so thick back in there... I may just give it a try this year for bear if I get the chance.

I've been looking at the First Lite stuff it's a little pricy, but looks like good stuff. I may end up getting the guide pants, one of the LW shirts, gloves, face mask, may even try some of there socks. Just gotta figure out how to explain it to the wife lol.

For deer hunting Scentlok Savannah pants plus Scentlok baselayer for top. I need thick enough clothing to get thru briars and brambles.

For dove hunting some cheap BPS Ripstop pants and cheap t-shirt.

I was just going to recommend this. I love the Savanna pants & top. Regardless of how you feel about the scent control properties, these garments are great for early & warm season hunting. If you don't mind Mossy Oak camo the Nexus Active Weight top is really great too. I have one in the brown color that I'll regularly hunt in during early season with my camo safety harness on top. Works great and it's ultra comfortable.

Thanks for the recommendation I will look into this as well. I already use nose jammer so the scent control point is moot , I Kidd.

Think I'm gonna end up going with the first lite stuff when ever they get my sizes back in stock. Turns out the offer pretty good mil discount.

If for some reason you're around Charlotte before you buy, feel free to give me a shout. I don't expect to be down near the coast til July 4 week.

I don't have any aerowool but do have corrugate, chama, llano and halsted if you wanted to see before you commit.

I have the ScentLok Savanna Suit. It works well here in NC when hunting season first opens and it is in the 90s. I wear a Moisture wicking long sleeve and long pants base layer under it. I wait until I am in the tree stand and cool down before I put on the top. I treat it all with Permethrin for the ticks and mosquitoes.

I use the First Lite pants mentioned before and used the aerowool this spring while turkey hunting. I love this gear and their patterns.

Well early season in SE TX can be very warm so I use redhead coveralls that are basically a thin denim material. That paired with almost nothing underneath serves me pretty good.

I often wonder what it would be like to hunt in warm weather. If I did I am thinking shorts, t-shirt and body paint.

Sitka Equinox pants and Core shirt (short & long sleeves) are what I use in warm weather. Of course warm early season in PA and OH is going to be a lot different than what I will be dealing with here in TX so my choices may change.
