OK thanks, I remember seeing a CXT a few times and remembered reading about them back when they were around but didn't realize International made a smaller version. I though it was made on an S10 chassis but it must be the full-size one lowered wi/smaller tires. wow, those CXTs are HUGE. I cannot even begin to imagine who would buy one of those. Not surprising that International stopped making them when they did (2008 was the last yr for the CXT)
If Toyota built a diesel, I'd be buying one this coming March when I'll be in the market for a 1-ton diesel... I've owned three Nissans and put an average of 300,000 miles apiece on each of them. My wife's Lexus has 284,000 miles on it and all we do is change the oil. I just bought a couple-year old Maxima SL for a road car that I expect to do the same with. I've had one Chevrolet and one Dodge... both were SHOT by 150,000 miles.
I hear ya Greg, historically they have been great reliable cars with good features for the $$$. With that said, even Consumer Reports has outlined that the Titan has had a LOT of issues and I've got three buddies with them that have all had issues too. Including what I've paid out of pocket, and what Nissan covered with warranty, there has been over $15k in repairs made to my truck in a 70k mile period. It was time to cut my losses and get rid of it.
Thanks for the thoughts guys. A quick update......... I knew it was time to pull the trigger. It just didn't make sense to drop that kind of $$$ on a vehicle with 70k miles that has had non stop problems since day one, so I figured I'd unload it quickly and see what I could get. I didn't hesitate and actually picked up a new vehicle last night. I went shopping for Ford or Toyota. I wanted a Ford for no other reason other than I wanted to buy American, and I truly think they have done a good job of reinventing themselves recently. Looking at Consumer Reports as well, they have really come a long way and have come to the top of the pack when looking at comparable American vehicles. Add in 0% financing, and a ridiculous trade in credit they were able to apply.........I bought myself a new F-150. It's the STX package, certainly not loaded, but has enough comforts to keep me happy. It also has the new 5.0 motor and it's definitely got a bit more go than my Titan. Overall I'm happy with it. It should be fine for work commuting, hauling dead deer, getting into camp, and towing a bass boat.
She's a looker buddy... very nice. Did you trade in the Titan or are you keeping her and selling it outright? Normally, I feel like I'm getting screwed over when I trade something in (i.e., "giving" it to them...), but with something with so many problems historically, I'm not sure I'd want to sell it personally either. Let them dump it at an auction and you're free of conscious...
I traded it. I didn't want to deal with passing this thing on to some poor unsuspecting shmuck. I actually got well over what it's worth by doing so as well. I got $15,500 on trade in, and retail price according to NADA was roughly $12k. They came down on the price of the truck as well......in all it was a pretty good deal, I got it for roughly $6k under the sticker price. Their finance manager wasn't happy with me because I pushed them pretty far, but at least they got the deal.
Looks awesome. Glad to see the STX package offered with a decent engine lineup now. That 4.6 in the previous generation was solid, but underpowered. Makes me want to go shopping:D
Hooker....Thats whats great about America! People r allowed to make their own choices.....and still believe in themselves......right or wrong! I may disagree with what u say(do) but I was willing to die to protect u'r right to do so.....Enjoy u'r ''rice burners'' Have a safe and happy archery season......Quite the ''happy'' avitar u got there, lol very manly.....''GO EAGLES''
A quick update for everyone. I've got 200 or so miles on it. I'm averaging 18.5 MPG with combined city/highway driving. My Titan was getting 12.5-13mpg with the same commutes. The Ford is actually doing 22+mpg on the highway. Figure the 18.5mpg over the 1700 mile average I do in a month, and I'm saving almost $150 a month in gas by switching over to this truck. What makes the deal even sweeter, is that the Ford has noticeably more power, and rides better too. In addition to this, the truck has no real scheduled maintenance for about 100k miles.......overall I'm very impressed with this truck and happy I picked it up. I should have done it sooner and probably would have if I knew how much $$$ I would save. Overall I give it two thumbs up and think anyone looking for a
Congrats on the new truck! I wish I could get a newer one, but a poor college student is limited lol. Now how about you post a picture of the bed bloodied up
