By proven, I meant it's a powerplant (the base) that's been in the Mustang for a while. While it's tuned differently, and certainly not a carbon copy, it's not a brand new engine to Ford by any stretch of the imagination, unlike the 3.5.

I've got a 08 Tundra crewmax 5.7 4wd and I love it. I haven't had any troubles out of it so far 40K miles. It has developed a little noise from the rear wheel area that has something to do with the brakes, but it's intermittent may go 4 weeks and not make a squeak and then it'll squeak a little. Sounds like the caliber isn't opening all the way, should be a pretty inexpensive fix. I drove it to the beach 3 weeks ago and got 17.2mpg, around the house pulling my 14ft trailer and the golf cart or RZR I'll get 9.5-11. The one thing that I think they missed the boat on is paint. It's black which doesn't help, but it'll scratch over every little thing. I talked to a pretty seasoned body man and he says all manufactures are like that due to EPA regulations on what can go into the paint. I just talked to GMMAT yesterday and he's looking to upgrade his tundra and I told him these same things. As far as the cummins comments, they are super reliable but they ride like wagon's, the ride quality between the two are not even comparable.

I agree, but I'm used to a rough ride. My 97 GMC Sierra is super rough riding, I put torsion bar keys in it and more leaf springs in the back, and bigger tires. Its so rough that all the screws worked themselves loose in the dash, and you cant use the cup holders unless your on the highway if you want a dry floor. I will definitely be buying a Cummins for my next truck :tu:

Mine rides like a CADILLAC, unless you're on rough road, then it's a little rough, but what do you expect from 1-ton suspension??? Add in 10-ply tires inflated at 65 and 80psi, and it's gonna be rough when the road is rough. Beyond that, as long as the road isn't too bad, the ride is very nice....at least to me.

I own both, a 99 2500, and your right it is what you'd expect from that heavy of a vehicle. But to drive day in day out not my cup of tea. But they are workhorses.

I'm 2500 bound for my next truck. Somewhere in the 04-06 variety. I'd like to get a tractor in the somewhat near future and that rules out a "new" truck and I'm ok with that. I've got 195,000 on my 94 Chevy 1500 and it's gonna become a plow truck.

I love my 2010 RAM Quad Cab. Gets great gas mileage and can fit the family and everything for hunting.

I have a 2011 F150 and I can say I wouldnt trade it for anything right now. I have the 5.0 XLT 4X4 with FFV. I also opted for the towing package. I like it because I have the option to use E85 when gas prices sky rocket. I usually try to fill up with it anyways when I can find a station. One of the guys I hunt with has a Tundra and I really dont like it. He has had some issues with the AIP and like mentioned before its not covered. The biggest reason I stay away from "import" trucks is that they havent been making trucks that long compared to the "big 3". I want to stick with something that is proven. Personally I would stay away from the 3.5 ecoboost. Its a v6 twin turbo. Just more things to go wrong IMO. In comparing prices Ford also wins. It would have been around 2000 more to buy a Toyota with the same options and such.

I've saw more new F-150's this year then I've ever saw. Something must be right with these trucks.

That is an International MXT. The CXT is MUCH larger.
The MXT is probably one of the baddest truck if you can find one. They are extremely rare because they never really went into production. A few were made but never really massed produced. I memory serves me right they have the VT365 where the CXT has a 466. The problem came down to cost vs. market.

I like Fords. They have just always been the best for me. Rugged, VERY GOOD QUALITY, great engineered, and the company backs the warranty very well.

The manufacturers are getting very close to doing this. I'm not sure why they haven't already. Rumors are that Nissan will be first actually. If that holds true, we'll just have to see. I think there are a few brands looking at a small cummins. I would expect to see them in the next 2-3 years. Again we'll see, I've seen manufacturers playing with prototypes for at least 6 years. The recession really set them back though.

You are way off base here. The 2005-2010 Mustangs had a 4.6 3 valve motor. The 5.0 was new for the 2011 and is a 5.0 4 valve motor. There is nothing proven in these motors as they have seen a year or less of production. The Ecoboost torture test on engine 448AA took the motor over 160k miles and then filmed the following videos.

Ok, I was just stating that the 5.0 has a lot of history with ford, but if it's a whole new engine from the block up, then I'm an idiot. I remember reading about the changes they made to it (lower compression, differen't cams, etc) but that may have been an article on the differences between the CURRENT 5.0 in the mustang and the 5.0 in the F150. I just stated that the 5.0 is not the same exact powerplant, but it does have a history with Ford. The ecoboost torture tests are impressive but like I said, I'm not sold yet. I want to see how they do for a larger sampling of owners out there.

EDITED: Posted last night from my phone...came off wrong.
