I tried for years to find main buck bedding in a hunting environment just like you described. I felt like the world's worst buck bed finder. Then I realized it wasn't productive for me to do and it was actually robbing me of valuable scouting time. The more times I can find areas with a variety of diversity of habitats and security, the faster I get into seeing the types of bucks I want to kill. And the more spots I can find like that, the better my chances become at being consistent in getting cracks at 3.5 year old or older bucks.
There really should be a disclaimer "If you're hunting an area that's God's gift to deer hunters (Such as Buffalo co, ect.) then the strategies outlined within are for you.....if you're not privileged to hunt such locations, disregard, lol.
