    Hi-jack....

In a Rossi i looked at a pistol yesterday, it had a. 410/.22/.45 barrels. Question, is a .45 deer huntable?

I'll second the Rossi. I've got it in a .50 cal, shooting 100 grains of pyrodex with a 295 gr bullet. Like i mentioned earlier, the savage would be my first choice, but you can't beat the price for a multiple barrel gun. I bought it off a guy that needed some cash, I got the .270, 50 cal, .17 for $250. The Rossi is a gun I don't mind beating on some, it's light and deadly accurate.

CVA Hunter Bolt. Nice and lightweight. Does not have a big kick.

.45 is legal in some states. I think .357 or larger here. You would have to check your state regs. It is big enough to kill deer if that is your question.

CVA makes awesome muzzleloaders. Yeah there is always something better but I'd prefer to put that extra money towards a better scope!

Will a .45 kill deer? Sure. Is it legal? Depends on your regs. Illinois allows muzzleloaders in .45 or greater, so .45 would work here. Not sure about your regs.

I shoot a T/C Encore and Omega and like them both. I take the Encore if I am going to do a lot of walking because the Omega has a heavier barrel.

Beautiful guns! I have a weakness for muzzleloaders. They are so much fun.

I've been contemplating adding a Muzzleloader to my hunting arsenal for the past couple years. If I get in the lease I'm hoping for next year, then I will have a close spot where I can hunt with it. The closest spot I have now is my grandparents, which is an hour and a half away in Virginia. I've always heard good things about T/C and the Triumph has caught my eye. We have a decent length ML season here in MD, but as of now I don't have a spot to hunt. I guess it'll depend on what happens with the new lease.

It has been good reading this thread though. I've always seen myself going to a ML rather than a rifle as a compliment to my bow.

I am developing that same weakness. I have been having a blast hunting with mine. While I was out this afternoon I was deciding to buy another one for my daughter to use next year. I'll be adding more to the arsenal, for sure. Muzzleloaders and bows. I think I have found my happy place :) .

We have about 4000 acres of public land down here in Southern MD. You may want to give that some thought.

I was ready to pull the trigger on a new .270 .... but playing with my Muzzleloader again has me wondering why on earth I would want a rifle when I have my Accura V2 .....

Bows and Muzzleloaders ....and I gotta add pistols .... why would I want to hunt with my shotgun or a rifle? ;)

Can't hunt deer with a rifle in my part of the state and shotgun season is only 2 weeks and I can use the ML during that time. ML season is another month (approx) and I hunt with the ML totally different than with the bow (the change of pace is nice and keeps things "fresh"). So that is approx 6 weeks with the ML.

I am thinking pistol also but I am gonna run with the ML for the next couple years or so and then we'll see.
