wtf does a judge have to do with permitting...of any sort, you are not in court or under suspicion even of breaking a law...again wtf does a judge have to do with it??? is he some kind of phsych/magician/judge to determine by looking at you if you fit the bill for law abiding or law breaking or if you are going to have a mental breakdown and murder in the future....ridiculous use/abuse of power in government...just my one hundred and two cents

I have the m&p in .40 and love it. Carry the .380 bodyguard as a backup.

Looking at the new kimber cdp on.45 and ruger in 9mm.

On the Smith...look at the pro, has a better trigger

Rick, if you liked the size of the G30 but hated the "fat" grip then give the G36 a look. Same exact size, but single stack.

I've been shooting the heck out of my PX4 SubCompact. The mag has a tipdown for extra grip. I'm gonna be getting a full size to match it. It's in the .40 caliber. I think I paid 500 or so. It's not failed once.

The Glock 27 is also a lightweight, 40 cal handgun. I handled one a couple of times a few months ago. Very easy grip/low profile, sweet trigger, and nice night sights.

I also agree with BC on the Glock 36. 45 cal yet a slim profile.

The compact version may be right up your alley. Some of their handguns are made in Italy, but the PX4's are USA made.

G23 (Glock .40) gets my vote not to big not to small and carries 13 rounds +1

I couldn't agree more. Could this be another good reason why the south is better??

Thank you for your interest in my post. Although the paticular model Kimber I have is beyond his budget, the plain jane version is really close. Please check post #17 for verification.

I know nothing of pistols. In fact, I only own them in hopes of never needing to use them. That said, I love the handle and feel of my Smith and Wesson M&P .45ACP. Will flat knock someone on their ***, shoots and handles very well, and is easy to strip down. Got one for my 18th birthday and love love love that pistol.

I am getting my concealed carry permit next month, and will be looking for a much smaller pistol to keep in the vehicle/carry at times. Jury is still out on that one, but price will be the main concern.

Sorry, but any handgun shooting a round with literal knockdown power will also knock down the shooter. Physics does not allow otherwise at our current state of technology.

Thanks again for the thoughts and updates guys. I purchased a handgun today, and can't wait for the application process to be done so I can get my hands on it and shoot it some.

I ended up spending a bit more $$$ than I anticipated, but I feel I got a smoking deal on the gun I got. Plus the gun is made right here in NY, I actually have a buddy that works at the Dan Wesson factory (now owned by CZ). I bought their compact Guardian today. It's their 4" barrel lightweight 1911, and also has a bobtail on it should I ever decide to carry it one day. It came with a LOT more options than similarly priced Kimbers and Springfields, and higher end components as well (lots of Wilson Combat and Ed Brown parts on it).

The first pic is my actual gun, but I realized I cut the bobtail off in the pic. The second pic and third pic I stole off the internet and shows it a bit better. Can't wait to get it on the range and play with it a bit.

Love the sideplates on that :p

I think you went the right direction choosing a 1911.

I'd rather be on the sending end than the receiving end of a .45, physics be damned. ;):moose:

Congrats on the new pistol, Matt. That thing is a beaut.

I currently own a Glock 23 and Ruger LCP (380). I might be in the market for a bigger caliber carry gun. The Glock stays in my night stand.
