What is the best camera for 500 to 700 bucks. preferably one that comes with great image quality a nice mic and one that preferably doesnt go threw batteries that bad that will hold up or last me awhile. I'm going to use it for bow hunting and bass fishing tournaments. Itll either be up in a tree or ground blind or mounted on my bass boat somewhere. Just looking for advice and input before I just go buy one and is there any places or sites to look before I buy one thanks.

Sounds like you're asking for a lot out of your camera in that price range.

To start are looking for a POV action-style camera like a GoPro/Tactacam or are you looking for a camcorder that can zoom, focus, etc?

I'm looking for a camcorder. I have a go pro and tacticam and the video quality isnt that good especially in low light. I'd like something I can mount to a arm and zoom with. It doesnt need to be the best just sorta good with the specifications I listed I'm more looking for quality images over anything.

I have used a VIXIA it wasn't bad and the quality of the videos was decent. Only thing was it not having a LANC input for a zoom/focus controller to attached to the handle of my fluid head. BUT, overall it worked for just getting into self filming. I put everything together for roughly under $900 at the time I believe. I'll try to find a pic of the setup I put together. Being honest though, I went this route cause i was unsure how long I would self film for, but with the money I ended up spending trying to go the "cheaper" route I should have just gotten the better camera I wanted to begin with.

Reconyx was my first choice too until I viewed the later posts. I'm using a Canon T6i. I think you can get one of those in the price range you are looking for.

This would be your best option to get a solid camera that will perform well in low light and be an overall solid camera. Anything new in that price range will most likely disappoint you.

I agree with copper and would go refurbed G20 as well, from my experience of piecing together my own package with a VIXIA it wouldn't have been much more than I spent anyway for a better quality camera with a LANC Input.

Some arms come with a fluid head but some dont so you might want to make sure you add that to your list. That'll get you started. Later you might want a LAN-C controller to reduce movement but that can wait.

Agreed, a good fluid head will make a world of difference! Check out Manfrotto, I went with a 128RC for a very affordable price knowing i didn't need a bigger one to support heavier cameras as my set up was pretty lightweight

For whatever you decide upon, compare prices at B and H photo. they have online ordering. Chances are they will have best price. Good service. Longtime, reputable camera store in NY, NY.

I buy 90% of my camera gear from them and have for close to 20 years.
