Especially if you can switch them out before they die. I'm running rechargeable batteries everywhere.

What rechargeable are you guys using. I'm running Tenergy ones in the cameras at work. One thing I have noticed is if the cameras go completely dead and I go to recharge them half the batteries wont read on the charger then basically have to throw them away.

I'm using Tenergy's and Eveready. I've never had the problem you describe.

Yeah I've burned through probably 2 dozen batteries because I let the camera go completely dead. using them in the covert 3g. Talked with the guys at trail cam pro and they said it was a common thing if you let the batteries go completely dead. Not sure if maybe its the charger or what. Have a Tenergy TN-160 charger

I'm running about 50 Tenergy's and have never had a problem with them charging back up from being dead.

These are the one's I'm using:

I use eneloops, I use them in all my camera equipment, including my trail cams. They last forever and I've had nothing but fantastic results with them. I haven't bought batteries for my cameras in years, and I don't think I will have to replace the eneloops any time soon. I highly recommend them.

I've had good luck with these:

Amazon.com: Sanyo Eneloop Ni-MH Charger and 8 Rechargeable AA and 4 Rechargeable AAA Batteries: Health & Personal Care

Not sure how practical it would be with a fleet of cameras (I only have a couple cams so I got the pack above to try out and it came with 4 AAA's as well for other stuff) but they work great for mine and gps's too.

16 pack's go for around $42 & can supposedly be recharged up to 2100 times and will hold a charge for years(literally 70% charge after 5 years sitting not being used).

I think I priced it out once for 48 batteries and a 16 bay charger from amazon prime it was around $165 +/- a few bucks, compared to constantly buying batteries that price beats even the best battery deal.

Amazon.com: Newest version Panasonic Eneloop 4rd generation 16 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries -FREE BATTERY HOLDER- Rechargeable 2100 times: Health & Personal Care

    http://www.amazon.com/Charger-Batte...348963&sr=8-1&keywords=16+bay+eneloop+charger

All that said the article below is still worth a read even though I've never encountered the problems described here but admittedly may not be using mine as heavily as some of you guys. Eneloop does make a "next level" rechargeable(eneloop pro I believe) but the cost is higher.

I also use eneloops as my rechargeables. Probably one of the the best NiMH you can buy.

I have used a lot of different types of cameras and right now I have 5 Moultrie M80XDs. All the types of cameras I have used that will run on AAs have performed very well using Energizer Lithium and regular alkaline batteries but it depends on the time of year. I receive between 15000 and 20000 pictures per camera a year. My cameras get used in the extreme cold of WI also. I do use regular Rayovac alkalines until the temperature drops under 35 degrees. Then the lithiums come out only because they are not affected by the cold. By doing this I get about 3 seasons out of the lithium batteries in each camera. If you don't experience extreme cold you will probably be okay using the regular alkaline batteries but it depends on the camera manufacture and the number of pictures you receive on each camera. Good Luck.

If I'm spending 95 bucks on 60 batteries I'm getting rechargeables. Rechargeables and Rayovac is all I'm currently running.

I've been using Panasonic d-cell batteries in my primos truth 40 cam. They were $1.69 for a 2-pack. So far they have been great. 700 pics and at 99% life. The batts. are packaged in blue. My local gas station sells them.

Do you guys recycle your dead batteries or just throw them in the trash? I have a bucket full of dead rayovacs.

Ive ran just regular Duracell batteries in all three of my coverts and I've had one set last me almost a year and thats with going through a winter in Northern IL. So i don't see a reason why I would spend more money on expensive batteries.

Exactly what I did....I want that deal to come back...as I'd buy 2 or 3 hundred instead of just one pack.

I utilize the ones I pull in battery powered candles around the house, remotes and such until truly deader than dead than recycle them locally.

Dang maybe that's my problem
I don't know what the deal is with it. If I don't change batteries until the low battery light is blinking that's when I run into this problem. Just had it happen on Monday.
