I might not agree with what they do, but no more than I disagree with most people's actions, including my own on many occasions.

I just think being gay is a very hard life to lead so I spend more time trying to understand gay employees and peopl I know and deal with. I like them a lot more than guys who commit adultly on their wives and act like if she doesn't catch me it's OK or this SH!thead that just murdered 12 people in CO but God loves them all and knows how he created them and I won't judge them, he will.

During my 2+ hours at Chick-Fil-A this afternoon I didn't see one anti-gay sign or reference to religious freedoms. Not a single one. I did, however, see several anti-Rahm signs and a Don't Tread on Me flag being flown. Additionally, I overhead the lady next to me telling her young daughter (3-4 years old) how she was helping to protect her constitution by being there.

Now I know Vito and Hooker want to paint this picture of a bunch of uneducated bible-thumping baptists from the South out to target gays, but in my personal experience (remember, I WAS THERE) that's not why people were there. They were there to show their support for a company being unfairly targeted by politicians who are overstepping their legal boundaries to try and push their own personal agendas.

Plain and simple - people are pissed off. They are finally getting fed up with our out of control government forcing their agenda on the public at every turn. This isn't about gay marriage or religous beliefs, it's about our freedom as citizens to express our beliefs without fear of repercussions from the government.

If we let this fly, what's next? If you speak out against government policies you will face additional taxes? Not be allowed on government property? Not be entitled to the protection of the police or fire departments? Not be allowed to get a driver's license? Where does it end? According to Rahm and the rest of them, you either fall in line or you're punished. Sounds like the type of place I want to live in!

One of our fundamental rights as Americans is being trampled on by elected officials and all people want to do is make this into a gay marriage debate. Frankly, it makes me sick.

When people would rather stand in line for a hunting license than stand up for something as powerful as our freedom of speech, the future of this country sure does look bleak.

That was well said, but you will not convince me that the majority would care if this was about something that they did not agree with.

 

Hooker - I think you're halfway there. I believe the people who are upset either do share CFA's views, or like me they are neutral and don't care either way. I'm sure those strongly in favor or gay marriage aren't worried about freedom of speech. However the sad part is, they should be. There was a time not so long ago when there was no public discourse about gay marriage. There was no media coverage, no rallies, no support of any kind outside of the gay community. But thanks to the same freedom of speech shared by those with opposing beliefs, they have been able to advance their agenda by leaps and bounds. But like many things in life, people only support our rights when it benefits their cause.

 

That was well said Justin and you make great points. It is also good to hear that the people were there to show they are trying to protect our freedoms. I hope that the people that were in line vote to get the people out of office who think they can take our freedoms away.

 

You know what really roast me... besides the fact a company can't have an opinion without drawing criticism. I hate the fact that it seems to be politically incorrect for me to be repulsed by the fact of men doing men. Yukky. Give me a break. It's OK to just want to fondle boobs. I really don't want to hear about holding a scrotum between tooth and gum. Yuk. Spitueeeee.

Well said. You ever notice that this groups, this time it's the gay agenda, love to attack nice Christians because they that we're...well Christians? Why don't they go after a Muslim company next week and what they think about gays or gay marriage.

 

Has anyone taken the time to define marriage? Who established it? When and where? Maybe the support comes to defend Truett Kathi's support for a definition of marriage taken from it's original source. To my knowledge... that is all he did. If homosexuals want to do whatever it is they do, why insist on calling it what it is not? I just don't get it.

 

I try to ignore most of the over blown topics in this country. this one is in everyone's face though.

I didn't really know that politicians got involved speaking out, that calls for them to be removed from office by the voters.

As far as the whole "boycotting a place for thier views" it happens all the time. Who cares? Maybe the (oppression) of gay rights are more important to people than I thought? Maybe it was the politicians getting involved that set this ablaze. I don't know.

I do think this is just another case of a minor controversy that people see as a chance to jump on and make thier "feel good" protest that in teh long run will be (hopefully) forgotten in a week.

 

You still refuse to grasp the concept. I'll throw Vito in there as well.

 

Rahm Emanuel is what wrong with America, not Chick Fil A. Liberal thugs using an office of power to intimidate a company and punish free speech exposes his social engineering and his “my way or the highway” attitude.

 

Illinois doesn't count. That state is a mess, and should take every opportunity to show their dislike for whats happening with the government in that state.

Now the rest of the country, I'm still not buying. Especially everything south of Illinois.
