My basement is almost finished, I have to set my doors and trim it out carpet is scheduled for the end of next week. So, I designed the room so that I have outlets at counter height where my archery/reloading bench will be. My issue is that with all my fixed tools (bow press, reloading press, etc.) my space will be used up pretty quickly. So I think I'm going to build inserts that slide in and out of the table top, I can mount my equipment on the inserts and swap them out as necessary. I've only found one bench like this, wondered if anyone else has anything like this.

Very slick. I have an 11' bench and it's pretty full with my press, vise, and storage. I just finished my drawboard and mounted it to the front to conserve space.

dubbya, I'd be concerned about any of those inserts that would be subject to a lot of stress. A loose insert may make a piece of equipment seem wobbly and less precise.

I thought of that. What about anchor bolts through the sublayer sheathing and then slide the inserts over the bolts and wing nut or nylon nut it secure. You wouldn't need the T-slot then either.

Yes, I wondered that myself. I actually asked a guy that built one, he said the key is to not use the "negative" pieces for the inserts because they will be too loose, but if you build each insert individually, it will be super tight.

Bolts and wing nuts being much simpler were my thoughts as well.

That said. I don't have a basement, a bench, the equipment, much less the desire to do this work myself. I may not be of much use here haha

I have bolt holes drilled in place, I drop a carriage bolt down and tighten a T bolt under the over hang.
The only thing fixed in place is my bow press, everything else I swap out as needed.

We're trying to figure out how to layout our stuff. We had a basement and a 64x30 pole barn back in Illinois. Now we have neither. :(

That bench looks nice but I think it might be kind of a pain. If it's tight enough for it to mot wobble then it might bind up when it gets a bit humid. I'd for sure have spent primers and case trimmings get in there. Those things get everywhere. :)

Right now the only thing we have that is quickly removable is the case trimmer. It's attached to a board. The board gets clamped on to whatever table/bench we using that day. Currently it is attached to my kitchen table. Lol. (Keep the vacuum handy!)

The insert idea seems pretty cool, let us know how it works out

Mine is functional, but I'm running out of room on the bench itself. Originally it was just an archery bench, but when we moved from NY I left a seperate bench setup behind that used to have my reloading and gun stuff on it. Now everything is on one.

When we move back to NY and hopefully into a "forever" home I'll build something a bit nicer but for now this works well enough.

    Hah........good eye......yes. :tu:

That was a present at my bachelor party years ago. If you look hard enough you will find another similar gift in the last pic. Wifey says they have to stay in the man cave.
