Thought it would be cool to see pictures of everyones turkey tools.
The first three calls are ones I made last winter. 1st one is a Bocote Pot with slate surface and glass sound board. The next two are the same call...It is a double sided call made from Cocobolo. One side is slate and the other is stained glass. I also made the corn cob and hickory striker.
The turtle shell call was a gift from my wife.
The broadhead is something new I'm trying this year...They are 140gr. Steel Force Talons specifically made to do some serious damage to turkeys. My buddy used them last year and I asked him how they performed...He said they were disgusting in a GOOD WAY! LOL
The Ghillie Suit is a light weight cape style that works well with a bow and doesn't overheat you. I swear by these things for turkeys. The picture doesn't do it justice...I hand died all my material and stopped counting all the knots it took to attach the stuff.

WOW, that turtle backed slate is unreal! I absolutely love that. I would snap a picture of my turkey stuff but it would look stupid next to your stuff. I have nothing custom, all off the rack, they all work well but man, it must be very enjoyable to use some of them calls.

    Mine are pretty simple/basic.

I'll be taking my Schafer recurve......a Cody slate....and a diaphragm call I got from Hunsucker a couple years back. Camo will be the ASAT 3D leafy suit. No blind.

    Basic.

It's not about custom stuff, it's about the things you like. Let's see what's out there so we can all take notes. The fact of the matter is basic is usually better. Posting pictures on here gives everyone new ideas. For example the first broadhead I ever used for turkeys was a Muzzy 100gr with a treble hook attached to the back on the shaft. One of the hooks was cut off and it flew great. NO PASS THROUGH THERE!

It looks like you are all set. I love the turtle shell pot call. That is really cool.

My vest usually weighs about 35 lbs. at the beginning of the season and about 7 by the end. I always take too much crap with me to start out. Maybe I'll try to change that this year.

To be honest with you I don't even use the turtle call...It sounds sweet, but I don't want to loose or wreck it. Thank God the wife understands. I only carry the other two calls I have pictured and a gobble call. I have found calling is very over rated in my area so I do alot of ambushing. I made a list a long time ago that I look at before each season to remind me to pack light. The ghillie itself ways in at a little over 3 pounds and since it is a cape style I can wear a fanny pack underneath. When I want to take it off I just strap it to the fanny pack. Other then that I carry some 550 cord and a folding saw for making some natural blinds. Every time I have used my ground blind I have had terrible hunts...The natural blinds work better in my opinion. So your 100% right PACK LIGHT AND HUNT HARD!
By the way how long does everyone have for a season in their area. Here in Wisconsin we have to apply for a permit and if we get one our season only runs 5 days...WEDNESDAY-SUNDAY. What a pain!

its better to have to much stuff and not need it than to need it and not have it
the season in new york is the whole month of may and all you have to do is just buy a tag no drawing

I've been hunting long enough to know what I need and don't need for a hunt. No reason to carry extra weight. I elk hunted with a guy two years ago that had that theory about extra gear he didn't need and all I can say is he was very unhappy and said never again. Making a checklist from year to year is the only way to go...Then guess what, you don't forget. To each his own.
Wow with a season like that a guy has no excuse not to get a bird. :)

I swear, one year at the beginning of the season I had 9 shells in my vest!

That is not counting the 3 I had in my gun. I must have been confused as to whether I was going turkey hunting or to Fallujah.

I might go pretty light this year. Gun/shells/camo & then just use the "King's" calling services after how well that worked out last year.:D:cool:

For some reason i always had 5 decoys folded up and shoved in there that i never used. Seemed to always attract wolf spiders too.

about the pics, the turtle shell call is the coolest i have ever seen

You mean the King is still alive? Where the heck has he been?

Caleb, that is hilarious. Five decoys isn't an attractant, it's a flock!;)
