I don't have pictures, but my current truck is a 98 F-150. It's nothing special but for a 16 year old truck with close to 200,000 miles it is remarkably sound and reliable.
06 Tundra Limited, 186,000 of the hardest off-road miles you can put on a truck... not an issue one, and she's paid for :D. 2.5" Bilstein 5100's. Guaranteed, this isn't the last one of these I own. And since it's a Toyota, I don't need a 6" lift and 35" tires not get stuck Pat. :D
Ah, the wisdom that comes as a Toyota owner :D I hear ya, Dubbs. The 1st Gen Tundra's were bulletproof. I'm not sold on the 2nd Gens, but when I'm in the market, they will certainly be considered. I've put my 05 Tacoma through the ringer, and it just keeps coming back for more. I've hauled heavier loads than it should, towed more than it should (not beyond the 6500lb limit of course :D ), and just worked it relentlessly. At 135K, I had someone ask me at the local feed mill the other day if it was an 08? When I told them it was an 05, they couldn't believe it still looked that good.
Sold the Duramax last week for more then what I paid and picked this up. Give it a couple weeks and she will have lift and tires 2011 GMC Canyon Z71 4x4 40,000 miles with 5.3 motor
One thing I can guarantee... the 2nd gens are still tougher than any other 1/2 ton on the market, even if the gen 1's were better. I would invite anyone to bring their chevy/dodge/ford our here just for one season and we could count the amount of rattles and squeaks at the end. :D
Well here's mine. She's not shiny and pretty like everyone else's but, never been stuck and I don't a computer science degree from MIT to work on it. I hope and I can keep it running for as long as I can. I really hate the fact that new trucks are so overloaded with computer controlled systems and unnecessary options like leather and carpet and btw who the hell thought a 5' bed on a full size truck was a good idea. This might be the last good model Chevy made(IMO).
Dont have pics but mines a 1997,f150 got 153000 on her had to replace trans at 146000 wheelbearings ,gas tank and brake lines and the radiator .leaks a little oil but she runs great gets me where I need to go.
I'll be honest, I don't pay a ton of attention to it around town, lol...If I need gas I stop and get gas, other than that I don't look at it alot....But I probably get around 14mpg in town. It's got the 5.7 liter engine "their big engine" and honestly they ain't the best on fuel milage...I had an '08 crew cab 1500 Chevy 4x4 before this with the 5.3 liter and it was better on gas BUT the Tundra will KILL a chevy if we race, lol....The 5.7 in the Tundra is a powerhouse for a 4x4 pickup, they have a ton of power and will get up and go. I've done a few roadtrips in it, went to KY a couple times and to WY elk hunting this past fall, on the interstate I get roughly around 20-23mpg on the highway roughly, like I said I don't pay attention to it a lot like most people do, lol. I will say this, all I've owned in full size trucks & SUVs have been Chevy's before this Tundra, after having this truck for almost a year now I doubt if I ever buy another Chevy truck...I love the Tundra, and if anyone is thinking about buying one and you have kids, spend the extra cash and get the CrewMax version, these things have a TON of room in them...My wife has a Chevy Suburban and I have a lot more back seat room in my truck than she does in her 'Burb. Heck the back seats will even slide forward and recline which is nice on road trips so the kids can get comfy and take a nap, or atleast shut up and leave me alone, lol.
I've got the same truck '08 crewmax 4x4, 14-16 town, I got 19.4 on a hunting trip to Ill. in 2011, at 70mph steady on the interstate you could probably squeeze a 20 out of it. Only issue I had out of mine was the belt tensioner bearing went out, I replaced it in 30 minutes. I've had F-150 supercrew, Z-71 extended cab, older toyota 22RE, 2 Rangers and a Titan I buy and sell on the side and this truck will not be sold.
Good to hear. Lots of guys say that's their number 1 and often only major complaint with the 5.7/2nd gen (gas mileage). I can put up with mid/upper teens. That's what I get with my 4.0 Tacoma anyways.
