Let's see your basements...yeah, I know it's weird.

I'm in the process today of tearing some things out in the basement and clearing out to make room for the L workbench I'm planning to build shortly. My basement is unfinished, unpainted block wall, with half being below grade (full walkout). This is basically where my archery "workshop", storage for canned goods, all of my tools, woodstove, etc. is at.

Last winter, we built a stairway access (some of you may remember the pics), framed and dry-walled in the stairs and crawl space.

The blue/gray paint we used on the walls, we're considering using for the remainder of the basement (with some sort of sealant primer). The existing walls are going to need some MAJOR cleaning (efflorescence build up from the all of the water problems we had to fix when we first bought the house), as well as plenty of pieces of block that need filled and patched due to all of the crap the previous owner riveted, concrete nailed, and tapconed into the walls we had to remove.

I'm still undecided as to whether I'm going to paint the walls and be done with it, or opt for the more time consuming and expensive route of framing everything out, closed-cell insulating, and then sheathing with something (most likely dry-wall I guess).

I'm looking (if you're willing :D) for pictures of your basements (remodeled or not) that have painted walls or basements that are finished. Just getting some ideas and need swayed one way or another. I figure the seasons for many are winding down, so hopefully you can find time to get off your butt and snap some pics...please :)

Are you kidding me? There's no way I'm going to show anyone that mess. Show me your basement indeed. You are one sicko. I'd rather show you skid marks in my undies.

Maybe this'll help give you an idea... don't know. Wife's got Christmas decorations scattered around (like on the left side of the entertainment center) and the table in the middle of the room for the neighborhood boys to eat at during tonight's party...

    You're the man, Greg! Thanks!

Did you finish the basement or was it finished when you bought the house?

    Looks great, btw.

It was finished... I painted the walls a custom color I concocted in my head and had mixed up for me (saved at Sherwin Williams under the name "Mocha"...) and hung the full-length wall mural, of course. It's the second one I've had up there since we bought the place; just wanted a change of scenery, lol.

I feel like I finished the place out, as there was almost a week straight of pulling trim and baseboards to run speaker wire and sub cable all around the place to hide the wires, as well as running the HDMI and power cord down from my plasma down to the entertainment center...

Long-term plans is to take that pot-belly stove out and remove the sheetrock from in front of the chimney there and build in a fireplace... it'd give me more room, and I like the looks of a fireplace much more anyway... I burn a LOT of fires -- almost one every night after it gets below 50.

I've got that one thread saved for an idea myself that (was it you?) someone built the fireplace into their basement... haven't looked at it in a long time though; that's why I can't remember who did it.

Yeah that was me. Your stove setup looks very similar to what I started with as well. I think a nice stone veneer fireplace would really fit nicely in that room of yours. Thanks again for the pictures.

Ben, I know, I know. I should have came out today (didn't have much going on for once). All I know is you have 20yds down there. I could care less what it looks like if I had that :D

Nearly 23 yards Sir. Spent the day setting traps and cutting a cord of firewood. Capped it off with a dinner out with Kate. Today was a great day.
