Here are a few My daughters A few more off the farm My son had a couple as well. Here is a pic of the SMALL one he killed The other one was much larger but I just took a pic in the back of the truck and forgot to upload the pic before I deleted it from my phone.
Got the day off from work yesterday due to high water conditions, and I made the most of it. Story to follow later.
Yeah, Matt!!! That's one happy hunter! Sometimes just switching things up can make a difference .. Congrats!
A buddy of mine at school shot a really nice buck this morning.... he couldn't be happier. Here's a picture of his buck.
Great buck and congrats to him but I HATE seeing pictures with the gun pointed at the hunter.VERY DANGEROUS
He's been hunting for years.... I'm sure he unloaded the gun prior to taking the pictures. I know they teach you to treat every gun as though it's loaded, but if you put the shells in and personally took them out and know it's empty, then I don't see the big deal. To each his own though, and I definitely can see where you're coming from.
I was fortunate to get 2 does today This one with my 357 revolver, the deer were calmly feeding in, but a nearby gun shot & ensuing commmotion got them a bit on alert. So I took the 1st one to even get close to my range, which turned out to be a BB, but I made a perfect shot at about 40-45 yds. I took another doe with my slug gun later in the day, in another unit. Here's both in the back of the truck. 70 yds bang..flop
I'm hoping that by the end of tomorrow I will be able to post my picture with a big buck. I've been after a buck this whole year that I've seen about 8 different times now and it's been a while since I've seen him, so I was starting to get worried. However, during this evenings hunt my dad gave me a call around 4 and told me that he'd been watching him for about 15 minutes. He saw the general direction that he was going towards to bed down, so hopefully I get lucky and pick the right stand. He's definitely very evasive and has proven to be a very difficult buck... which he's proven by surviving first gun season and a majority of the second gun season so far.
Well after this weekend I hung up the muzzleloader.. Time to move onto some more bowhunting and duck hunting. Nice deer everyone!
Great going, guys. Big congrats, Ryan. That pistol has my interest (hunting). Open sights? How much could I get into one of those for? Thanks.
Mines a ruger GP-100, yes w/ open sights. I'm really not up on gun prices as much as I used to be, new it looks like it's gonna run at least $500-$550. MSRP is $634. If you shop around, you could probably find a used one for $400 or under. But if you go with a single action blackhawk (my other hunting pistol is the super black hawk in 44) it retails for about $100 cheaper. Pistol hunting is a ton of fun for me. 1. I like shooting them to practice, & 2. its cool to hunt without lugging around a big bow or rifle.
Thanks, Ryan. I find that style really appealing, for the same reason you do. That's another reason I've enjoyed the few times I've hunted with a ML and rifle. I've only been elevated, once.....and that was because my cousin was in the same 20acre woodlot with a 30-06! I'll check into those pistol models, during the off-season. Thanks, again....and congrats!
I have the Ruger Blackhawk in 44 as well, and I am hoping to get a doe with it this year. Congrats on the deer!
I have taken a few deer with a pistol.2 with a .357 and 1 with a 44 mag.I highly recommend going with the 44.Not that a .357 won't do the trick,it's just a little quicker IME with a 44.
