Very nice everyone! I'm gonna pick up a new one this summer. Looking for a 55#. Not sure what I'm gonna get yet. Been looking at Predator and Check Mate. There is a couple Martins I wouldn't mind having either.
Wind Walker Take Down Custom made recurve. Before It lost some pounds In the limbs this bow was 73lbs at 28 Inches. It's now 62lbs at 28 Inches after I fixed the upper limb. I've hunted with this recurve only for 15 years. She'll make 16 years this year barring the limbs don't loose anymore weight which I don't see happening. Either way though I'll be getting myself another recurve to replace this one and besides I need a back up anyway, specially when I go on out of state hunts. My checkbook says I can't buy another recurve right now. I hate listening to my check book.
Here is my go to bow, Big River Longbow..... Don't know for how much longer though, I was just at John's house yesterday and picked ouþ the woods for my new bow which should be here in a few weeks! Oh yeah, those are some Sherwood shafts, aka Douglas Fir and are awesome!
Jim, You really like that bow, huh? I have bid on a few of them but been beat out. I would like to get to shoot one one day. George D. Stout has made some good comments about that bow also. It's one of the bows that can be had relatively inexpensive. I might have to up the ante next time I get a chance to get one.
VA....This bow stack's 'em in there just as good as my Shafers,Black Widows and anything else I ever shot. Very quiet, dead in the hand, accurate and it's got some great Zebrawood. All for the low low price of $59.50 on ebay BTW...I just picked up a Browning Safari I recurve off George a couple of weeks ago from the auction site. George knows his vintage bows!
Jim, I always thought the Safaris were pretty bows. I knew a guy who's father had one but I couldn't talk him out of it.
The Safari is my favorite Browning. This has a beautiful Brazilian Rosewood riser and a fantastic grip. I'd really like to get a 60" Safari II
I'll definitely be at Sawmill... I haven't missed one yet(probably my favorite shoot). I'm not sure if I'm camping yet but I'll be there on Sat. for sure
