As I'm sitting here trying to decide on a form for my mount I figured some pictures wouldn't hurt. Lets see what you guys have! I have only had one mounted so far and it's pictured below. I'm just wanting to do something a little different, I'm thinking some form of a semi sneak. So lets see them! Here is the buck I'm looking at forms for
I went with a semi-sneak/alert facing the same direction he was when he was shot. The semi-sneak/alert is my favorite form. No pictures of it yet, as I won't have it back until April.
Can you find pictures of this somewhere? The left side is stronger on my deer and I'd really like to show it off with a right turn but I can't find a way for that to work in my house.
Here's my last two. Can't remember the poses off the top of my head. I can ask my dad, if you're interested, he might remember.
If I can remember, I will take a picture of my dad's when I'm over there again. He had is done by the same taxi and used the same form as well.
Here's our mounts. Mines the one closest and it's my bow buck from last year and it's a sneak form. Figured that's the way he was when I shot him so that's the way I want to remember him. My dad's is in the background.
Shoulder mount is a right facing alert w/ both ears forward. I think I would get my next w/ ears back and left facing. A european mount would also be a good consideration. I've got three of them w/ one more on the way. Much cheaper, I found a guy to do it for $65, and they look good to. For me to pay $500-600 for another top quality shoulder mount it will have to be bigger then my first.
WOW! A GOOD shoulder mount here can be had for $300 or a little less. I paid a little less than three for my first.
Okay, pic 1 is my 11 point. It's an upright mount, right turn with ears back. Pic 2 is my 8 point upright, forward with ears forward. Actually, all my mounts are upright and I was thinking of mounting my 9 from this year a little bit differently. Good thread as I too am looking for ideas. A few things to keep in mind are the head direction and ear position. Ears forward just take a little away from the rack in my opinion. Ears back bring more attention to the rack. You can see in the pic of the 8 that the rack was just too small for the ears forward in my opinion. Also take into consideration what he was doing when you shot him. JMO
