Best look at your own dog then...

Edit: Maybe your pink one behind the dogs.

Here is my 1 year old gsp. Hank. He's an awesome bird dog and also loves shed hunting during the off season

I actually logged in to post a new thread on what just happened to our puppy over this weekend as a word of caution to all the dog owners on this site; sorry for the slight hijack but here goes:

my 5 month old 58lb giant schnauzer snatched up a sodium naproxide (Aleve) tablet that I dropped on the floor. I didn't realize it until I heard him crunching away. I was able to fish out about 1/3 of it but he swallowed the rest. I didn't think too much of it but my wife is paranoid (thank God for that this round) and after she hounded me about it for about 15 minutes I decided to go ahead and check the internet and see if there were any issues.

Holy crap! Aleve is extremely toxic to dogs, and can and does kill many every year. It causes bleeding stomach ulcers and liver failure. Of course this happened to us at 1:30am, so I had to call around quite a bit before I finally got some veterinary advice. Basically, induce vomiting via hydrogen peroxide.

Unfortunately he had already absorbed the Aleve, so he got a double dose of Aleve and induced vomiting with no results. Long story short, 3 days, 2 sleepless nights, 4 soiled rugs, countless rolls of paper towel, 2 vet visits, and $350 later he seems to have turned the corner and be on the road to recovery. He's back to biting me when he's hungry and making forts out of anything he can drag under the kitchen table.

We were very lucky. Had he ate the whole pill (only 220mgs) and/or I hadn't seen him eat it he might not have made it.

I'll post a couple pics of him later; it's been hard to get good ones b/c he's jet black and never sits still for long enough to snap a pic.

Very glad to hear that he pulled through. I remember being there when my best friend almost lost his dog. Terrible time. And, thanks for the heads up.

yeah, thanks. The first "vet" I talked to was the ASPCA poison control hotline (yeah I know they're anti-hunting fascists but your dog may be dying at 2am; what are you going to do?) and they told me to take him to a vet - but they didn't ask me how many MGs the pill was. I called a local 24hr emergency animal hospital and the pill size question was the 3rd one they asked, right after how old he was and how much he weighed. Basically the vet did a dog age/weight/mg ingested formula and @ 58lbs Otto was right on the border to induce and then wait/see how he did after the vomiting. Problem was over 24hrs later he still couldn't keep food down so I ended up having to take him in. Luckily there doesn't appear to be any internal damage; just nausea that seems to have finally passed with a little medication.

My girl Daisy. So glad that I took her in. She had a rough time before I got her from her previous owners. Daisy is the most loving and friendly dog I've ever had. She ended up having part of her tail amputated this winter after a run in with a garbage truck, but it hasn't slowed her down any.
