If you really believe in it... spend your own money and become independant. That's not a lot of money for a military retiree to handle. Hell, you can probably borrow it on a signature loan. LOL "Green" is a catchy phrase these days, but it may be loosing it's luster. If it works and is affordable... it would sell. If it's a pipe dream... in this economy... it won't. I'd really need more information on how it works, what you're talking about etc etc etc before I could give a serious answer. If it's a hair brain idea I'd tell you. If it's the real deal I'd give you all the money needed for a cut of the action. Honestly, if you believe in it... that's why we have lawyers... to protect our hair brain ideas. One day you tell us you're making all this insane money teaching classes to the military, you're retired military... and now you say that a few thousand is holding back humanity from the greatest invention ever. I'm skeptical at this point with no information. There, I've done my part to bust someones bubble today. LOL
1. Retired pay after state taxes, federal taxes, insurance and SBP isn't all it's hyped to be. 2. Just one visit to the hospital after insurance still costs thousands of dollars when you're on Tricare Standard. Last year, we paid out over a third of our gross income in medical bills. 3. Military classes pay good, but they are not regular and you cannot count on the funds until they arrive. Imagine that from the government. 4. Who said it's the greatest invention ever? Its good, but never have I said it's the end all. 5. I asked for suggestions on how to come up with the money, I didn't ask for anyone on here to invest.
I don’t know much about the patent process, but without a detailed business plan and the ability to adequately disclose your idea to potential investors so they can evaluate its merit, you might be in for a tough time finding people willing to invest. Are you looking to just get the process patented, and then sell it off? Or are you looking to run the whole 9 yards with regards to manufacturing, selling & installing said invention?
Patent and then sell. Setting up the manufacturing process would be too much as I am not versed in metalwork.
i have a second cousin who poured his entire life into a project... for years it ruined him, his marriage and kids. finally it took off and he is a millionaire.... said he wouldn't change things for the world! if you can keep at it, im sure it's tough though
I just looked into a provisional application for a patent and they are really reasonable. Paperwork is sent and as soon as I have verification that they received it, the product will have "patent pending" status for 1 year. That will give me time to finish up the rest. Thanks for the provisional patent information!
My guess is, you haven't read up on "Green". If it was "totally green", you'd be whittling and knapping the units.
Perhaps you missed the part where Mark asked for serious replys from people that might acutally have some knowledge on the subject. Good luck Mark, hope your invention allows your veterans camp dream to come true. Sounds like you are on the right path.
Since I train architects (with a portion of that training dedicated to LEED/Green building certification and materials qualification criteria) in this arena, I'd say my response could be considered "knowledgable". You're welcome to challenge me, though. Maybe "Joe" will spot IV some of his grammy winning lyrics money????
