You've got an invention and the model prototype worked great. To build the full size prototype you need $3.5K and to get the patent another $6K - $10K. How do you go about getting that type of green (legally)? I've spoken to a couple people who both said they were interested in doing this, but when the time came to put their money where their mouth and signature were, both came up with excuses for not doing it right now.

Once you discuss an idea/invention with someone, you have one year to get the patent process started so now I am down to 9 months to get it in the process.

I would appreciate serious answers only although that is SO totally not me or this board usually.

    Thanks

    Mark

You need a friend with money and an agreement that will make it worth their investment. Remember though, over 99% of patents never end up being fruitful which usually leads to problems with your friendship.

I understand that the majority of inventions never get past a patent or into the public. Just because one person believes its great doesn't mean anyone else will. I designed and built (once again 1/4 scale) totally green air cooling system for residential use.

Uses NO chemicals or gases, and no power off the grid. Is that green enough for you?

How effective is it and what would the estimated cost be for a 2000sq ft house, 2500, 3000 to purchase and install?

    Good luck with that.

Maybe you should hold a fund-raising 3D archery, pseudo-cross country type event. Does that sound like a good idea?

I'm in the air cooling business so I'm greatly intrigued by what you're saying IV.

Have any questions.. I'd be more than happy to answer.

You can get a provintial Patent to cover the time it takes to gert the prototypes set. Cost about a Grand. For investors good luck in this economy but you have to come up with a business plan and a contract to pay back the investors. There is alot to it and it all cost money. Banks are tight right now but you can take out a loan if you have a business plan.

I would recommend you get a provisional patent right away. Once you have this, you can take some time to invest more or drop it. Also, at that point, you could pitch it to a company like GE. (patent pending would be even better) Why invest 10K when you can take the one lump sum payout for your invention...oh..and take a long term cut of the profits as well :)

If I had something I was super confident in, you better believe I'd find a way to come up with $15k without finding a private lender. I would want to find a way to fund it without another investors name associated with equity, etc. If you are so confident, you seriously don't have a $15k line of home equity, or sitting in retirement that you can tap? If it's that good of an idea.......why would you want someone else to have a piece of the action? I'd gladly take the risk on my own if I really believed in it. Now if it was $500k, or 5mil.......then I'd look for an investor.

Unfortunately, we've only had this place for 3 years and don't have enough equity for me to comfortably take out another loan. My income right now is limited to my retirement from the military, my VA disability, and my occasional instructing for the military. Most of that money goes for my wife's medical bills. I'll look into the provisional patent, I could come up with a grand next month easily. If everything goes through, the money made from this will go to start the armed forces recreation area that I've wanted to start for some time. I personally couldn't give a tinkers **** about making a lot of money for myself. I would keep enough to pay off our debts though.

    Thanks for the information!

Thanks for the offer, without a non-competition/non-disclosure document in hand I cannot discuss it. Once it is done I'd be more than happy to talk to you about it.

    Thanks

No.. no.. no.. I didn't want the keys to the city.. just thought I'd help out if you needed any suggestions.

I read about a bunch of things some of the bigger companies are working on right now to "green" up the industry.. but none of them have the power to provide the same kind of cooling that the destructive gas freon can do.

So.. just trying to help... if you needed it.. nothing more.

The flux capacitor is old news.

Doc Brown got the patent years ago.
