People might be born with a predisposition to alcohol and drugs but are they walking around shooting up and getting drunk right off the bat or does that come later? One generally must first use the substance before the predisposed condition takes effect. Now crack babies might have withdrawal but they won't be hitting the pipe. Most homosexuals I know tried to be heterosexual and it didn't work and they were miserable. Should we expect gay people to live in misery to be politically correct instead of acting on their instincts?
Not really sure where I am going with this, but should people who have been convicted of sex crimes against children, persons who have murdered others, or people who are gang members who hate other people based on race (see most gang members), be allowed to be married?
Just another thought, again not real sure where I am going with this...if given a "choice", would people allow a person like Adolf Hitler to marry a woman, or would they allow a gay couple to marry?
Because I believe that marriage by definition is a contract or convent between a women and a man. I think that all the implied and inherited traditions for family have been built around marriage as its been defined. If the state wants to create other partnerships that create a contact that has similar legal benefits then it's up to the states to govern in the direction of its citizenry.
