In this weeks fashion thread, we will discuss the proper shoes for the proper attire. One would think these simple rules are obvious, but I see men breaking these rules everyday. 1) Athletic shoes are only to be worn with athletic shorts. Do not wear them with jeans or cloth shorts. 2) Sandals and/or flip flops are only to be worn with shorts. No sandals with jeans. 3) Jeans require boots, or some type of other leather shoe. I like boat shoes, such as topsiders, or Chukkas. 4) Khakis and other business casual can be paired with leather driving mocs. 5) Sandals should never be worn with socks. EVER. 6) Crocs make decent boat shoes and/or yard shoes. That is it. 7) It is preferable to not wear socks with boat shoes and driving mocs. 8) Seersucker or linen suit should be worn with white bucks. 9) When in doubt, go with wing tips for formal wear. 10) Boots are not formal wear.
5) Sandals should never be worn with socks. EVER. They actually have a Law against this in Midway Tennessee. 10) Boots are not formal wear. Disagree. Nice cowboy boots are quite classy, depending on the occasion. Just make sure you broom them off first. Crocs have two purposes 1.Throwing at swimmers during swim practice to get their attention. 2. Wearing while loading and unloading a boat on fishing trips. Nothing else.
I'm an atheletic shoe person 95% of the time, including with khakis and a sports polo. Also I've been banned from wearing crocs!
I beg to differ regarding Tennis shoes with jeans. Boat shoes? HAHA Posted from my phone so please excuse my brevity.
You can disagree, but these are the rules They are a classic leather shoe that will never go out of style. Can be worn with shorts or jeans.
I wear Sperrys daily, out of laziness. (call me Frat-tastic I guess) Tennis Shoes are for basketball shorts or to the gym. Columbia Hiking shoes to work in. Boots with jeans except during the summer. I think any of the plaid or seersucker shoes are nearly as gay as crocs.
It's actually really simple for me. Square toe dress shoes for work Steel toes for my work outside of work Athletic shoes when working out (Brooks) Casual shoe (NB) with jeans or shorts Flip Flops (no sandals for me) only with shorts and very rarely
I think our closets and shoe racks look very similar. I have to add river wading for smallmouth in the summer are acceptable for Crocs as well. Flip-flops with Jeans are like cargo shorts. Not too many people know about white bucks. I have a pair from Johnston and Murphy I wear with my seersucker suit (only between Memorial Day and Labor Day) and it's a very classy look.
I have three pairs of shoes that I wear the majority of the time. White on white Air Force 1s with jeans. Athletic/Casual (Nike running shoes) with shorts. Sperrys with khakis and for when I need to look like decent. Sometimes I wear flip flops during the summer. Sometimes I wear them with jeans. Is that bad?
I keep hearing about this style....what in the heck is it? It sounds well, um..... "seersucker shoes"
Do you mean what type of shoes to wear with a seersucker suit? Those would be white bucks. Or light tan dress shoes, if you must.
