If Oklahoma beats tcu they're in. The winner of auburn v. Georgia is in. If wisconsin beats Ohio st. They're in. Winner of Clemson v. Miami is in. If wisconsin loses or Oklahoma loses then Alabama is in.
Iowa ran all over Nebraska, NE coach fired. So now NE will be paying close to $19,000,000 , that is $19 million, over the next 4 years to people that are no longer working for Ne. Now how crazy is that ? ? ?
I think it is too early to say Alabama is on the outside looking in. I think the people in charge of this will give Alabama more chances than they deserve.
I believe that is pretty accurate. I cant stand Miami so I hope they get blown out and shove those gold chains up their rears.
I don't think a one loss Miami to Pitt is in over a one loss Alabama to Auburn. Who knows? This thing seems to change by the hour lol. I think the playoffs were a great idea (finally). Look at how much more exposure and excitement it has brought to the last few weeks of the season since they started it. I wouldn't mind seeing it go to at least 6 teams... maybe 8, but no more than that.
The only reason I think Miami would have a chance is because they would beat a tough Clemson team in the acc championship game.
So for Top 25 teams we have the following: (rankings are obviously from before yesterday's games but the record includes yesterdays games) Undefeated: #15 UCF, #5 Wisonsin 1 Loss teams: #2 Miami, #1 Bama, #3 Clemson, #4 Oklahoma, #7 Georgia, #20 Memphis 2 Loss teams: #6 Auburn, #9 Ohio St., #10 Penn St., #12 TCU, #17 Washington, (unranked) South Florida The 2 big losses were Miami and Bama. At least Bama lost to #6 Auburn but Miami lost to Pitt who was unranked. IMO Miami will drop out of the playoff picture but Bama is still in the hunt for sure. Come the next rankings I think it will look like this: #1 Clemson, #2 Oklahoma, #3 Wisconsin and #4 Auburn, #5 Georgia. After that it gets a little shaky. UCF might crack the top 10 but still won't get much thought for the playoff unfortunately. Memphis will move up but won't break the top 10. Ohio St. and Penn St. still stand a chance at the playoff if there is a loss this coming weekend by a top 8 team. Miami will stay in the top ten but be no higher than #8. Bama will certainly stay in the top 10 but not sure how far they will drop. I doubt they will drop below #7 even if that far. Auburn gets a lot of credit even for a 2 loss team because of the strength of schedule. Heck even Wisconsin could jump to #1 but if they are undefeated and at #5 now behind 1 loss teams Clemson and Oklahoma in the rankings, I doubt they will. Anyway just my 2 cents. We'll see how it goes.
Wisconsin will never be ranked number 1 and will sneak into the playoff picture even if they route Ohio State next week. They aren't a sexy team and nobody outside of wisconsin likes them unlike a lot of other teams. The only things they got going is that they will be undefeated, fans travel well, and good old Barry Alvarez has about more pull in college football than anyone else.
They way this year has been going I’m not going to waste brain time thinking about this when who knows who will lose, haha Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
If the above in bold plays out, bama is out!!! I will be pulling for Wisconsin, I like them!!!!! Where do I get a cheese head?
I am not a college football fan but how can the NCAA argue against an 8 team playoff for the National Championship?
Just my opinion, it's an attempt to keep the atmosphere of, say, ten years ago with college football where "every game counted." Well, clearly every game doesn't count anymore. Plus, all teams are allowed to add a cupcake 12th regular season game. Then, you have the increasingly meaningless conference championship game. A small minority of us were against all this crap in the first place, but now college football looks more and more like college basketball, which no offense but imo, sucks hard enough to pull walnuts through a tuba. That said, I will be inside all day January 1st, which is the last day of a very long deer season. LOL.
I agree completely. 8 teams isn't too much if you ask me. Darn near a month off for some of these teams and every stupid little bowl in between is almost ridiculous. Every other college sport has a better playoff system than football.
I actually like 4, it makes every game count and the games in late Nov are pressure pack and fun to watch. Leave it at 4, because the playoff type games really started 2 weeks ago!!
why 4 ? top 2 teams play, the 3rd and 4th teams play what does this do ? just makes 2 games, no prize for 3 and 4 why not 3 teams---or 5 ? 3 teams-- 2 plays 3 winner plays # 1 for title 5 team playoff same format---2 plays 3 3 plays 4 winner of both play each other winner plays #1 for title Now you have a real play in winner not set up by a group of people picking 1 through 4
I don't like this system. If a team can't win their conference, they shouldn't be in the mix for the national championship. Take the 5 conference champs from the big 5 conferences, then 3 at large bids to make an 8 team playoff. I always liked the idea of big schools playing a couple weaker teams in non-conference to give them smaller schools some publicity and players for them teams the experience of playing on a bigger stage. For most of them it will be the biggest game of their lives. The way things are going, why would any big conference school want to schedule those games anymore? I think some part of the future scheduling should be based on previous finish, It is hard for teams like the Badgers to schedule tougher non-conference schedules.
