I believe that there is intelligent life out there. I mean seriously, those ufo's have to come from somewhere.
Life as we know it is carbon based. It takes sunlight, water, the right temperature to make things grow. With that being said, a planet has to be the right distance form its light source or the temps. could be wrong to sustain life, carbon based life that is. There could be silicon based life that would take a whole different set of parameters. To think that we are the only life in the Universe is obsurd. Intelligent life is another matter.
NASA has proven that there are hundreds of planets that are ''Earth like''.They are 1000's of light years away! If there are intelligent life out there, they're way to smart to bother with us.Humans r just a cancer infecting the planet,in plain language.....I'm no tree hugger,or anything like that.I'm just stating the obvious truth. If intelligent aliens have been here its been a very long time since they were here, and I believe they want nothing to do with us. From a outsiders point of view, would u wanna interact with us???? War,famine, murder, hate, ect. We try to contact ''others'' if they were to come, what would be the first thing we'd do?...kill them! lol
Maybe the elements aren't the same, but perhaps the lifeforms could be something other than carbon based? Personally, I think it to be naive to think we're the only intelligent lifeform that exists in the universe. We're not even the only ones on this planet. That's not to say that they visit us, that part I'm not convinced about, but I also won't say it's impossible. I do, however, believe there are other intelligent lifeforms, elsewhere in the universe today.
Hooker you and I live in the same A/O. That is Neat. My view on aliens. If God saw it fit to Create life here than I don't see why he wouldn't do it elsewhere. There's far too much out there to think that life on Earth is the only that exists. I don't try to dwell on it though...for those of you non believers...in God that is. I say to you, what do you call bowhunting?
If you are in Fort Polk, then I grew up just down the road from you in Gardner. Back on topic. I'm glad to see that the general consensus agrees that intelligent life is elsewhere. I'm just not sure if it exists right now, at this very moment. Will it exist later? Or has it already existed? I think it has and will. It just blows my mind how brief our existence has been, and will be, in the grand scheme of things. Makes you feel very small.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/09/22/us-science-light-idUSTRE78L4FH20110922 Interesting article suggesting the universe may work differently than we thought. Antonio Ereditato, spokesman for the researchers, told Reuters that measurements taken over three years showed neutrinos pumped from CERN near Geneva to Gran Sasso in Italy had arrived 60 nanoseconds quicker than light would have done. "We have high confidence in our results. We have checked and rechecked for anything that could have distorted our measurements but we found nothing," he said. "We now want colleagues to check them independently." If confirmed, the discovery would undermine Albert Einstein's 1905 theory of special relativity, which says that the speed of light is a "cosmic constant" and that nothing in the universe can travel faster. That assertion, which has withstood over a century of testing, is one of the key elements of the so-called Standard Model of physics, which attempts to describe the way the universe and everything in it works.
I think to completely dismiss the idea would be ignorant. The universe is infinite and there's no possible way that one can make a definative statement that other lifeform, even intellegent, does not exist. Will we ever meet, eh probably not. However, if we did it would almost certainly be the end to the civilization, possibly both. Not necessarily wars or fighting, but the microforms or disease they would bring with them.
