A garden tour + my favorite rooster and the monkey cage I've mentioned. I have another to wireup for a different flock as well. One pic is what the garden looked like before I started.

Yepper I literally snapped off the end of my weed hole digging up the regrowth of grasses and weeds. That will teach me for not putting the garden to bed last year. That is still only half of what I planted last year.
55 tomato plants and dozens of peppers, hot and sweet. I have pepoers on the hot tomatos on half of them. The musk melons have melons and a bunch of flowers. Watermelons are just breaking loose with vines. We had a pretty bad storm yesterday, lucky missed the 1/4 in hail. But that rain exploded the plants in growth over a matter of hours.

Man took a ride last night to check peach trees. Im a bit discouraged, the trails are an ungodly mess of downed trees and branches. All the huge brush blinds are now 2ft speed bumps surounding lawn chairs.
    Downdtrees everywhere
I picked 15#'s of blueberries the last 3 days and fed the local deer fly and skeeter population.

I re sprayed the sedge hammer again this morning since it didn’t get it all the first time around. Also sprayed a couple of different areas for fall plots. Still debating on whether I should nuke my big clover and plant something else in there. Last time I hit it with roundup it knocked back everything and the clover came back stronger. Would like to get more annuals for the fall, but also don’t want a big fail if the rain stops.

So we had a deluge yesterday afternoon. Woke up to a heavy mist wet and an air quality alert. I got out early to work garden. Too wet to weed, other than right around plants by hand so chose to prune. I did the cukes, tomatoes and the summer squash.
I transplanted a few corn plants. My pumpkins , second planting broke ground the sunflowers have as well.

Well the clovers are spreading I won't be putting in any other plantings, the chestnut trees are in very heavy flower so I know they'll be in a heavy set. Apples are in a heavy set.
I'll be honest the cam has 7 different 8pts 4 being huge with out past ears racks. A dozen different young buck a few that are showing great future promise and then, well I just won't mention out of superstition.
I've had buck on the property but never this many and rarely in daylight so close to where I work daily. Yesterday I was able to walk within 50 yrds of 3 young buck as I walked down the drive. I only have 2 doe, zero fawn on the cam

Getting lots of greens, broccoli and now zucchini out of the garden.

It looks like a good spot. I went over to get a bunch of DRing done, finally!, I caught the tail of a turkey leaving the mulberries. I had the cam card in my pocket of course. Well behind that tail were 3 tiny ,tiny poults. Less then a week old from their size. So lets hope the hawks don't get these.

Going to be another hot, hot,hot few days. I put chicks up last night at 8 pm. Went to garden to weed the corn and second round of pumpkins. My clothes were soaked through and had to grab a cool shower as soon as I hit the house. Thankfully it rained yesterday so no need to water and I picked raspberries and blueberries yesterday.
So funny thing, in my rush to plant the very late garden between rains, I apparently lost track of what seeds were going in. What I thought were winter, ended up producing fat yellow zepher squash and more striped Italian zucchini. So? , one might think. Well we are now talking DOZENS OF SUMMER SQUASH PLANTS...lol the chickens and turkey will be extremely happy.

    Some additional thoughts…
Ever pickle the zucchini? When they’re smallish they’re pretty good.

We’ve taken to grilling a lot of summer squash.

Holy moly it's only beena week and it's ridiculous already
Picked the last of spinach, another 7 squash, cukes and hot peppers. I will be making poppers tonight. Tomatoes are now getting some color, we have eggplants producing just days from picking. My experimental super sweet mini peppers are producing so hoping they taste good. Seeds were from ones I bought to eat from store.

Second crop of figs are coming in. Probably have a peck already. My apples are about ready (golden delicious/granny smith x, good firmness and tartness)…
