It was like that here a week or so ago, highs in the 70s then down to the teens. The past week or so it has leveled off and is somewhat normal for spring. I really need to get back up to our property and over seeds or clover and blow some leaves off the clover. My neck and back are still on edge and I’m really trying not to overdo it. It’s hard

Yah, I developed a, hhhmmmm, " catch " in my rt lower back rib cage. Think from shoveling the drive. I say catch because the pain suddenly appears and prevents me from bending or even sitting without pretty bad sharp pain. I can be working along when it suddenly hits. I'm slowly working into my heavier work..

Man learning curve for sure. I started working on leaf blowing and sheet moss rolling on trail plots behind the house. The learning curve is just what my hands will take, not much it appears. My rt. Hand went completely numb with in 15 mins., so this will make me rethink a schedual.
Now to the moss rolling. Our property is plagued with sheet moss it's everywhere and on everything. Right now is the perfect time to clean trails and plots of its. The back pac leaf blower just rolls it up and moves it into the surrpunding leaf litter.

Well every time I step out the door it starts to rain. I decided to give up and make lunch. The sun came out and blue skies arrived. Here are before and after pics of the moss removal thus far.
One other issue.....maple sprouts from last year. This pretty much cancels put my establishing clover unless I can kill them with mowing before they crowd out the clover.

It's been another REALLY cold day. I forced myself to get the boys out for a much needed run out back as I picked up wind damage. 2 hrs later....
All three of us exausted...lol whilst I was out there I cleaned up a few areas inorder to build up a couple of ground blinds. I have a schedual of sorts to these open brush blinds. I start them in areas and make them fairly big in size usually oval and widerthan my legs can stretch out. I build but do not use them I then esablish clean trails around them in shooting range. Every year for a few years I build them back up and throughout the year check trails for traffic and area for buck sign. I always do these in spaced groups for wind direction to foot travel.
I have a group I worked on today that will get hunted this year. See when the deer get use to seeing these and sometimes using them and do not smell or see me. Theyll increase travel and be way less alert. I may though have to give at least one a spring turkey run.

Man wish I was wrong about the weather, but Aprils forecast tells me not. Going back to really cold temps , mix of snow and lots of rain.
This will effect the mast crops this year.
It's already delayed some plantings. I usually have peas in the ground by now. A better start on spring plots. The ground is a saturated mess. Still to cold to knock down weeds in areas I have clovers in and new plot areas.

I’m hoping to get to the property early next week to blow some leaves off the clover and over seed them. Hopefully it will be dry enough by then.

Hubby dogs and I took a nice walk just now. Wow I was not impressed with the clover in the end of garden plot last year. Looks like It will be great this year. I may need some grass and or weed maintaince. I have to look through my aresenal. We found some turkey scratching and a bunch of chewed off leeks so critters are about on regular trails.

Ah today I did rock clearing. Funny how a simple surface rock can turn into a 2 + ft x 2+ft deep boulder. Had to use heavy pry bar and then the winch. Tomorrow I have to find a bunch of fill. Those two and 3 smaller but significant ones need fill.

Ramps, wild leeks, are just about ready. Staple for sandwiches ,salads and soups here.

Will Rogers said everyone complains about the weather but doesn't do anything about it. Know the feeling as every time I get motivated to work in the yard, it rains. However, I'm comforted with my father's saying- You don't have to shovel rain.

Today I cleaned up brush, finishe blowing off the behind hoyse plot and a mid woods trail to it. I then hooked up the drag tide a 10" 4ft maple log to it and dragged the plot and trail plots behind the house. I took out a bag of seed that ever got planted last year. Oats, wheat, rape, rye and radish. Not sure what else actually. I'm not expecting much but if some of it comes up good enough for a bit of attraction and soil health. Rain due tonight and snow later in the week this is a fall seed so that's not an issue. It needs cooler temps. If it doesnt take I have lots of other options. I got the plot and one trail done, still need to finish the really long trail plot

Older plots behind house planted and dragged in. Now I need the kill down a navite grass plot and lime the crud out of it for a new plot farther in. I have a big dead ash to cut and a very rough beech that will block some light.

Went back over old post. My peas were in and asparagus was popping I had a green house filled with plants and boxes of potatoes with nearly a ft of greens.
Woke to this today, no peas in. The asparagus isn't popping hardly any plants and what I have are very small. Snowing steady.
Hhmmm nitrogen for the plots I just planted

Those ^^^are clover plots. I will head back up there and over seed them plus one more next week. Everything always looks like crap this time of year up there.

Yeah it sucks, I might have to nuke the whole thing and start over. Doesn’t seem to blow off as nice as yours does. It is mainly the first small plot that’s the worst, the second one has more grass and some sedge in it. The first one is old and probably just needs to be sprayed, plowed and replanted.

I find only actual moss killer works well.

Checked new plantings and the grains are just starting to sprout
