I've unfolded a cardboard box... A bit of tape on the flaps. Tape paper on the open end and set that side facing you and shoot through the paper on the box. Newsprint tears funny sometimes...most shippers are using crumpled paper now... It works, but also tears inconsistently. But I've also used copier/printer paper and the box it came in... Which works well.
Never have done it myself but I hear parchment paper works well for paper tuning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
How much more potential do you think these guys have left? Picture was taken back at beginning of July and last I have before my camera was stolen
I know it's kind of a basic step, but did you confirm you didn't have any fletching clearance issues. If you have a fletching hitting a cable that'll really cause some side to side wobble, especially with a drop away rest. One of my bows has really close cable clearance and I had some similar wobble and I tried everything and couldn't figure it out until after I had shot it enough that the right side fletching of all my arrows was turning black along the outer 1/16" or so from the accumulation of string wax and dirt. The thing is that when the bow was at rest it didn't look like there would be a clearance issue and it didn't make contact as I drew the bow back, but when I shot it it was contacting the cable. I concluded that the flexible cable guide that bow has on it was bouncing/rebounding a little bit after the shot and it was just enough that the inner cable was springing back into the fletching path at the exact time the fletching was crossing the cables. When I drew the bow back or let it down the fletching didn't make contact because there wasn't enough energy for it to cause the cable guide to bounce/spring so it only occurred when it was actually shot. I moved my arrow rest to the left by about 1/8" - 3/16" and it solved the problem instantly. Go to Walmart and head to the ladies makeup section and get you a cheap can of bright red lipstick and take it and rub it along the leading edges of all your fletchings(the thin edge, not the flat surface of the fletching). Shoot the arrow and check for lipstick on the riser, rest, arrow shelf, cables, etc. (it doesn't transfer a lot of the lipstick so it can be hard to see on a dark bow/cable so you may need to wipe all the possible contact surfaces with a cotton ball or an old white tee shirt and see if it picks up any lipstick colored marks on it).
Yeah I just checked a few things out. It’s definitely got the clearance, not hitting any cables. I think what is happening is that the timing on the qad drop away is off. I don’t think the string is far enough down on the cable. By looking at this picture, I see marks on the bottom of the flipper that should not be there, I always have the flipper up when I draw back. Thoughts? I have no idea how to adjust it. I’m not a fan of tinkering with my stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Easy to check. I cock mine up as well. You check while getting to full draw, there’s like another 1/8inch your forks can cock back. Therefore you need your cord while @ full draw the engage that additional 1/8 of an inch. Put it this way. Say you cock you QAD while hunting and don’t shoot. How do you make your arrow get free?? You hit the lever button underneath which cocks your rest back a bit further, and then releases and drops. You need this same action to be done when you come to full draw. I might be way off but if it's a ... Say 29 inch draw you want it to be in up at 27 inch of the cycle and last two inches will "cock" it. I don't see it giving a wobble though ... Shooting Low yes , bigger groups yes. That's due to less time of guided path. I have my money on tuning still.
ok, yeah mine does that, about the same amount of travel. hmmm. maybe the rest isn't level. I have no idea, lol
Yeah that should put some lead in your pencil. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Well you must be sure your rest is on center and you check this by paper tuning. Make sure your rest is tightened down as well and not rattling around as your arrow passes thru. Check your forks as well. Check your center shot and loop. Everything related has an impact. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Heading out to Bare shaft tune then paper tune. I’m sure I’ll be posting up results and have questions LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
