It is a good thing I haven't seen any deer..... I just got thru another 6 hour sit without seeing anything.... I normally take a shot from my stand with a practise arrow when I get out of the stand...and I have been shooting very well.... Well, I have been in a ground blind for the last couple of weeks and left the practise arrow at home....but this morning I put one in...as I got ready to leave I decided to take a shot at a rotton pine log at 23 yards..... My arrow sailed over the log not even close...so I got the arrow and tried again...same thing.....So I took a shot at what I thought was a rotton stump but was in fact a cedar stump hard as a rock...the arrow it the edge of the stump and shattered,,,lost a 10 dollar arrow and a 10 dollare prac. head...(Montec). SO I went back to the house got a few arrows and went to my target...first two arrows at 25 yards were a ft. to the right and 6 inches low.... I couldn't believe it because my shots at the log were high.... So I got my composure went thru my normal paractise rhythm...the next 6 arrows were dead on.... My lesson is to shoot alot even during the season.....I just had gotten complacent and was drawing the bow putting the pin on and letting go... When I made myself do it right I was good to go.... Don't get complacent...shoot as much as you can...bad form comes back real quick. SB that will cost you a dolla 2 ninety 8.
That's why hunting isn't about how well you can group arrows after a few warm-ups. It's how well can you shoot 1 shot after hours of inactivity and your heart pumping.
great reminder SB ........maybe we loose sight of 'practice' during the season cause we're caught up in the season i '' bought'' a nice tree the other day..only cost me a g5 striker mag bh........took a shot at a doe i thought was not moving....thought.......anyway she was.i missed & i bought the dead tree too....lol
