Is any coach in America simultaneously as good and as bad as him? He throws together dominant intimidating teams. He recruits with the best of them. He picks his lineups well. He however, is an idiot in game. That loss to Bama last night falls squarely on his shoulders. You don't play gimmicky football as a top 5 team that is outplaying their opponent at home. Faking a field goal in the first half? Going for it on 4th and 1 instead of taking the field goal in the 3rd quarter? Trying an onside kick when you already own the momentum of the game? Bama played terribly on offense in the second half, and Mettingburger had by far the game of his career slicing up the secondary in the second half. LSU outplayed Alabama, and because of their coach didn't get a shot to come out on top. Also worth noting, it is amazing how one single fumble can COMPLETELY change the entire course of the game. Bama was rolling up until McCarron messed up the hand off in the redzone for a fumble...LSU owned the entire game from that point forward.
I'm glad he's an idiot. Ever see him try and clap. I thought about hooker at the end of the game, I'm sure he was drinking heavily and did not take it well. One thing about this game, both teams have a lot of reasons for why they could have lost. Bama's fumble, missing cooper wide open, etc, LSU had four miles mix ups to boot. When good teams match up that's what happens.
LSU had a struggling QB go 24/35 for right at 300 yards, 1 TD an 0 Int... They had over 39 minutes time of possession. Zero turnovers to Alabamas 2. Held Bama to 1/9 on 3rd downs while they completed 10/20.... Not saying Bama didn't control the first half and have two glaring missed opportunities in the overthrow on Cooper and Yeldons fumble....but they overall were outplayed and still escaped with a W somehow...
You don't look good Hooker. You better take better care of yourself. Drink more... Drink and it will be all better.
Didn't think so before but Oregon may give Bama a run for their money if they end up meeting in January. They looked very beatable... Les Miles... I don't get him sometimes unless his wackiness is just part of his strategy. LSU definitely should have won that one.
I would love to see Alabama play Oregon. Two completely different styles. Any other possible mythical NC match up will be a disappointment.
Except we saw LSU vs Oregon last year, and LSU dominated. Although I don't think Bama's defense is a good as LSU's was last year. And I really wish the national media would do what they did after last years game. After LSU won 9-6, everyone basically said "well Bama is still the better team, they should have won, etc". Well how about this year? LSU dominated but now it is all about Bama's "will of a champion" or some BS. I'm very bitter. I do not know why I watch LSU games. They are never fun.
Problem is... they have lost the benefit of the doubt by losing twice. I agree LSU was better. Bama was better coached. You rarely see Saban make mistakes like fake field goals gone bad... everyone in the stadium seemed to know that was coming.
In the first game of the year. We all know good offenses struggle much more at the bigger of the year than good defenses do. I think Oregon is better this year, too. I'm not saying Alabama couldn't dominate them, but I would still like to see it. The thought of Alabama playing ND isn't even worth watching to me. Alabama vs. KSU I might watch for a minute and see if it stays competitive. Alabama vs. Oregon and I'm making an effort to watch that one.
The fake FG was one of the dumbest call I've seen in a long time. I liked the onside kick. If our kicker did not get excited and let it go 1 more yard, he would have had it. Kicking the 54 yarder right before the half was dumb, but meh. Alleman has the leg, he just sucked that night. Going for it on 4th and 1 instead of kicking the field goal later was really dumb. And then the play call was even more dumb. With a defesne as good as Bamas, and an offense as typically bad as LSUs, I will never agree with leaving points on the field. And then the prevent defense on Bama's last drive was just...just...
Agreed. Everyone knows Oregon can score quick, fast, and in a hurry. It would be interesting to see that scorching offense match up with a more smash mouth team built around controlling the clock by running the ball, and a much better defense. It would probably be a game topping 70-80 points because no way can Oregon stop the Bama backs from marching down the field, and I'm not sure even Alabama can stop Oregons offense. A TD after 1 minute 44 seconds in REAL TIME to start the game against USC?!? Is that real life? Hook, one difference from last year is that Bama controlled the entire first half rather easily... that at least earns them some of the credit (majority still going to the bone headed decisions by Miles). Last year LSU never controlled any point of the game they just came out on top because of 53 missed field goals by Bama. The deal breaker is still the fact that LSU dropped another game to Florida. Bama and LSU crushed everyone in their way last year and were the clear two best teams. Not the case this year. I'm REALLY hoping K State drops a game and Oregon and Bama go undefeated. Even if ND wins out, the other two go ahead of them IMO.
I think catholocism lost some ground when all those priest got exposed for extracurricular love of little boys. If that hadn't happened, ND would definitely be #2 in the polls right now.
I LOL pretty hard with all the ESPN talking heads saying that ND looks just like an SEC team right now.
You guys keep talking about hard polls those priest are going to do crazy. Side note I have to sit through 5 hour class on Saturday to coach at my daughters catholic school, so I know not to mess with kids, which is just common sense to me.
Hey you never know, UGA may surprise everyone in the SEC championship this year.....go ahead and hate, everyone said Florida was going to stomp Georgia but the Dawg defense finally decided to start showing up to games.
