For all sin and fall short of the Glory of God…yes all of us….everyone needs a Savior! He was sent in the form of Jesus Christ, fully God and Fully man. If people want to give up something for Lent go ahead, but know the reason you're doing it. The equation to salvation is to recognize everyone is a "hot mess", repent of your sins and follow Him. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life!
When I started this post, I was just seeing how people were going to partake in or not. I agree with most of the comments. We ALL sin and fall short of the glory of God and the only way is by accepting Jesus' sacrifice. We (my wife and I) use Lent as a reminder of that sacrifice. I know I said we were giving up eating out, but it's something that is easy for us to do and we need to remind ourselves that a relationship with God takes work on our parts.
lol Preacher, continue to preach the gospel of division and immaturity. Please continue to search my eye for before you look in yours. You busted me alright. Busted me real good. lol
Ok, so when someone says, "I used to be Catholic, until I read the Bible," that's not implying anything derogatory whatsoever? Interesting. Also, since you want to get things straight, when did I say that I was going sinless for a period? Doing my lent thing thinking I'm giving up sins huh? I didn't know I said that. I appreciate you telling me what I said. Also, since we're on this topic, since I'm a sinner, apparently I can't help it anyways, so are you suggesting that I should persist in my sins? Or, is it possible that after a deliberate period of self-reflection, I should try to not sin. I dunno about you, but I don't think persisting in my sins is a viable option. I may be a sinner, but that doesn't mean I don't try to live a holy life.
this is going to devolve into an unnecessary dispute rather than a discussion. if there is a moderator reading this, i respectfully request it be closed.
and on the flip side, maybe you shouldn't keep poking somebody who asked not to be poked. look, you don't agree with me, i don't agree with you. replying to every single on of each others posts in an antagonistic manner is immature on both our parts. i thought what i posted earlier was my asking you to drop it. maybe you didn't understand it that way or didn't want to, but i'm asking you as a gentleman now, to please bury the hatchet. if you can't, then fine, i'll stay off the thread and you can continue to say whatever you wanna say. i think what has developed is silly. anyhow, accept my apologies for whatever it is that i said to you that made you feel the way you may be feeling.
Christians fighting with Christians, rich. Reminds me of hunters fighting with hunters. Pretty sad, really.
Yet you have been in the middle yourself many a times... People argue, Dan.... It's what makes the forums go round
No, unless my memory is poor, I've never gotten in an argument with anyone telling them that they're living their spiritual life wrong, while claiming I'm doing it right. I'm not an "arrogant" Christian like many are. I live my life, believe what I believe and will never, ever, tell anyone that they're doing it wrong. So, keep arguing with each other about who's living their spiritual life better, your savior would be real proud of you. FTR, my first post isn't exclusive to forums. Christians do it every day in life.
Dan ... Christianity is subjective...like all religion, politics, hunting, fishing, peanut butter, etc .... so humans are always trying to justify themselves and their beliefs whatever they are...so why would you be surprised that they argue, discuss, fight over it ...human nature ..and you are a front liner in many different battles ...even your previous posts in this thread prove that out.... you are NO different ...own it
A frontliner in many different battles? About how Christians should be living their lives? You should do stand up, because that's funny. You just keep telling your Christian "brothers" how your way is right and theirs is wrong......if you think it'll get you to your destination.
