For several reasons, I am considering installing a 2 power lens on my HHA sight. I know it would be a benefit while shooting at X's, and I don't want to go any higher than 2 or 4 power because at close range my target will blur out...

Will a lens help or hurt in a hunting situation?

Yeah, I'd hate to not have that once in a lifetime shot opportunity because I couldn't see through my peep.

Makes sense to me, I am worried about my glasses. This will be the first hunting season that I have had them. I can see and shoot without them, but given the choice I would rather have them on. In comparison to you situation, I can simple take mine off when it rains or mists, you can't just do as easy that with a verifier or a lens. I guess if you knew the weather conditions going in, ok but that's too much to chance for me.

Hm, fogging is something I hadn't considered.....I know there is a commercially avialable anti fog but in my experience that crap just doesn't work......I'm gonna have to rethink this apparently....

I would never use one in a hunting situation. This comes from someone that uses one for every target related archery venue out there.

Too many issues where they can cause glare, get rain on them, dirt, etc. There is no opportunity for a buddy to hold an umbrella over you when in a hunting situation.......;)

Also good lenses are expensive, and when I'm using one if I'm not actually shooting the bow I put a hood on over the scope/pin guard. I'd hate to have to fumble with that while hunting. If you get rain on it, etc......and have to take it out, most of the time things will change POI.

I'd never add that variable into my equipment for hunting. If you do, I'd never consider anything higher than about a 3x power. More than that your going to need either a very fine diameter peep sight to clear up, or a clarifier. Clarifiers are a nightmare as well........get a water drop in that thing and you can't see a thing till you get a Q-Tip in there to clean it out.
