I'm researching to find a rangefinder. I will mainly bowhunt/gunhunt whitetails/turkeys, but will do some varmint hunting and eventually some big game hunting out west. Do you have real life experience with any of these RF's? What are your opinions? After all my research, I've added a few points of interest for each, please add your own points to consider. Thanks much for your input. ---Leica Rangemaster CRF 800....$399.99 plus $5 shipping -most say this is the best glass -7x magnification -waterproof -auotmatic dimming interior LED -proven product in the field -non-cluttered and simple use -no ballistic or angle compensation ---Leupold RX-1000 TBR....$373.47 + free shipping -very good reviews -6x magnification -True Ballistic Range technology with three bow selections/built in inclinometer -weatherproof(?) -manual adjustment OLED display for low light -a little cluttered and more complicated ---Nikon 8376 Archer's Choice Max Rangefinder....$296.99 + free shipping -reads in .1 increments -active brightnes control---auotmatically adjusts display for bright/low light -Nikon advanced ID technology---(angle compensation) -First Target/Disant Target Priority modes -6x magnification -waterproof/fogproof (except battery chamber) -only ranges out to 200yds. -unproven new model(?) I haven't needed one up till now, but since my 11 year old twins will be bowhunting, we might as well have one in the family. I want their hunting experiences to have every advantage possible to make an ethical harvest.
I've used(borrowed) Lieca and liked it ! I currently have a leupold 750 and love it!I had a nikon yrs ago-well....reason I have exper. with the others mentioned is because it wasn't worth a hoot! They all tend to work well at bow ranges...it gets tough when you need a rifle range(long distance) on deer size game. It helps to hold it absolutely STILL. My leu. gives me a reading everytime -my furthest yet was 487 yrds.
I have the RX1000 TBR Leupold, I love it! It was between this and the Leica. I didn't want to spend the extra cash on the Leica.
