Well - I think that may be a locked thread soon...so one last shot - MI sets the value of a poached deer at 1000$ restitution. Makes that basically grand theft, from the other citizens/hunters in the state if you poach a deer. Cheating - yes...if you are on a field edge 45 minutes before sunrise where I hunt and the trophy walks by you and you shoot it while I(who prob'ly did my homework on the buck) am 20 minutes down that trail on the way to his bedding area where I would have seen him during legal hunting hours then you have cheated and robbed me of a trophy buck that - YES! - you did indeed Poach...and therefor you would forever be branded a 'VIOLATOR' by anyone that I hunt with, or around, and that I have respect for.
BTW - yes I have broken the law before...I do now try my best not to break any, anymore...but no one is perfect.
another BTW - when you 'poach' that state record or whatever at 15 minutes before legal shooting hours - are you going to 'Lie' and say it was 'Legit'???

I can't think of a time you and I have disagreed, Brett .... I guess there is always a first... the confusing thing for me is that you would not do it, but you would not call someone that did it a poacher....

Seriously, I would never hunt with someone that would brag about poaching a deer.... bad mojo ...

Dan I hope from my posts you realize this thread has gone a direction I sincerely didn't wish it to go. Some still have yet to figure out a way to share differing opinions in a respectful way. It blows my mind at times some of the thoughts of others, but in the same token I'll respect them to the point where at minimum won't attack them. Lock it or leave it I just wanted to apologize for being the one to start a thread which should have been fine.

I totally understand some of my comments are out of line and after thinking about it this thread is not a total waste. This is a very touchy topic and i dont think its possible to not have heated moments. With that said if a guy wants to obey the law awesome good for him, if a guy wants to shoot a little early or late awesome good for him thats his option and he should not be called out for doing it.

Since when is choosing to obey a law an option or not? Sure, you may not get caught doing it....but why would you even risk doing something that is illegal? You have some really odd points rkloehn, and the way you blew up and acted in this thread makes me understand why you choose to do the wrong thing.

Actually, if someone wants to knowingly violate a game law and thinks that is awesome good, they should be called out and made an example of. It's just poor judgement in my opinion and cheating not only the deer but fellow deer hunters.

So, if you shot the next world record whitetail 10 minutes before or after legal time, do you tell everyone that it was shot during legal shooting time?? Are you happy to live with that lie forever? If so, are you proud of that fact?

Couldn't help but notice how you phrased this. You acknowledge that obeying the law is good, which everyone would agree. Then instead of saying "if someone wants to break the law, good for them" you cleaned it up to make it sound like it's not wrong. If you have to manipulate the way you say it to justify what you're saying then it should be obvious it's wrong. Like the people making the point they break other laws to justify it. That doesn't justify crap. There are alot of people that believe the end justify the means. That's a dangerous way to think. I'd prefer to be a man of principles. You said "He should not be called out for doing it", whats up with that!? Accountability is important. Since when is it wrong to acknowledge someones wrong doing? It's their WRONG doing. When people break a law it's everyones business. We all are expected to uphold the laws.

Wow, if you say so dude. So because I side with what's right instead of you, I'm the problem? Read the thread again and pay attention. The people who'd poach have to justify it. I don't have to justify anything to you because I know I'd do the right thing.

Sure thing. Sorry for the confusion. This thread is harder to keep up with than legal shooting times, that's for sure. Now, back to the thread you big ****bad, sir.
