Phil finds himself in the final group with a share of the lead at the Northern Trust this week. Would be cool if he hangs on to win. Going to be a tough task today though. A lot of people within striking distance this week. Should be a wild finish at a GREAT golf course. I think he's going to need a 4 under to win. He got a little loose on the back yesterday and hit a lot of poor shots. Young guns nipping at his heals. Going to be a good back nine. He's also been working on the exact same thing in his golf swing as I am right now.

Ah dang.. The Lefty blew it. BUT, it was nice to see Haas win again. Phil had more than his share of chances but just put himself in unbirdie land too many times on Sat and Sunday. That kid Bradley looks like he's ready to melt down at any moment but keeps on chugging. At times I thought he'd just explode.

Bradley showed some guts to sink that put right after Lefty made his with people rolling around on the ground even.

One of the better finishes I can remember. You just never could guess what was going to happen next. If Phil's putter had been hot all day, he would have taken it easily.

Yeah Phils putter let him down big time. That was easily his to win. Back to back three putts on the back nine on sunday? Whoa. Good for Haas on the win, he's a good dude. How about that 10th hole? 312 yards of hell lol. I can't believe Phil hit it anywhere near right of that green. That was either a bonehead decision to take that line or a HUGE miss.

I was also shocked to see Phil end up short-sided on the 10th. I assumed he was just trying to go for all or nothing there and put it away. When Haas chipped out sideways I figured he just conceded another hole of play. Crazy finish.

Yep I thought the same thing. Sometimes the old Phil mentality bites him.

Really smart play. I think he was thinking just live for another hole too. Helped that it was going to be really hard for Phil or Bradley to make 3 from where they were.

I dont think I would have had the patience to make that decision. Even though Phil didnt have a great lie in the bunker, it IS Phil for crying out loud. If someone had to stick that shot close to save my life, I cant think of a much better guy to choose than Phil. As it turned out, Haas made a brilliant tactical move and it worked........this time. Always fun to second guess! I think we can look forward to a lot more tournament finishes like this one in the future. The pool of talent is extremely deep.

    I
I agree. There is a lot of parity and talent on the tour right now. Usually the torch is passed to another icon or two. Seems like nobody has taken that spot yet. Someone will eventually and break out of this pack as "the guy on tour". I think Dustin Johnson could be almost unbeatable if he knew how good he was and had a decent short game. Not even great, but good would do. In the meantime, I like the way the tour is now. Makes for some good tv.
