Drug addiction or recreational misuse of them has probably led to more deaths than murder in Akron but I didn't do any research; just a guess. Everyone has their struggles growing up. Growing up in a town of 2,000 like I did was hard because most kids find the wrong things to do with idle time and no teen programs other than school sports.

It's up to parents and the kid equally to stay out of trouble. The parents have to care enough to teach them right and the kid to have the will power to not fall into peer pressure to do the wrong thing. My dad took me hunting. Sometimes I wanted to go and sometimes I didn't. I wish I had went with him more.

I know nothing about living in the intercity but come on how will any amount of assistance help until people quit killing people of their own culture, over gang colors, turf wars, drug deals, violent robbery etc. There is probably a lot of it I do not comprehend but I will never get the homicidal violence.

I agree, but it's also up to the community, my friends parents would not let me act like an ass-clown. We simple tolerate way to much in our schools and communities, main issue is parents think their kids are "special", they're not. It really chaps my ass when I am trying to eat dinner and somebody kids are acting like clowns in a restaurant. In my advanced age now and fact I simple don't care I tell them their kid behavior is awful and it's rude to others to allow them to act like clowns. My wife really loves me, lol

They are poor, have no other options in their minds, fatherless and the schools in the inner city are terrible, lets just say I am not shocked.

77-80 I lived in Detroit, went to a private catholic school.

Yup. It was the same way with my family and my friends families. Dad told me in no uncertain terms, if I got out of line and a friends dad kicked my ass for it, don't come home whining about it cause it would be round 2 from him.

Akron has both wealthy and very poor sections. The poor section also stretches in Canton. Crime / violence is relatively high in those areas, especially Canton. Large portions of this area really is a **** hole nobody would want to live in.

I would have to agree. Ohio has some really poor crime ridden areas.

LeBron lives about 25 minutes from me. He didn’t have it as bad as some but he did truly come from nothing. And he’s the right kind of celebrity athlete...no scandals.

He's just another jock ignoramus speaking in decibels greater than his IQ. He wears "Equality" on his exorbitantly priced sneakers? Priceless.

He's got the nerve to tell me I made a mistake voting for Trump? LOL. Whatever, Mr. Maxi Mandible Neckbeard. He's a tool.

Exactly. Parents need to parent and lay the smack down when they get out of line. A lot of parents don't do that any more.

Or can't because someone (maybe their own kid) will turn them in for child abuse.
