I guarantee LeBron grew up harder than me. I was a Marines son and we moved every few years. Normal ups and downs.

I now live in a county of about 430, 000 people. We had about 25 murders last year. Life isn't terrible or extremely tough for most people. I saw LeBron make a comment recently like "where I come from most don't make it to 18"....so I did some research. LeBron is from Akron Ohio. They had 28 murders last year. What is he talking about when he says that most people where he comes from don't live til 18? It's so inaccurate it's laughable.

Modern day phenomenon of everyone is a victim or someone overcame something so their words are supposedly more profound. Even if it is untrue.

I'm not a huge fan of Lebron and definitely not his political comments, but the guy came from less than nothing and built himself into an empire, and he's never been involved in any scandals, loves his kids and married his high school girlfriend. People don't always say the right things when they're being interviewed, so I think you're looking too much into his comment.

    Here's some backstory on Lebron:

He may have been born in the hood but at 9 or 10 he went to live with one of his coaches and it was private schools and suburban life from there on till he went to the NBA. He's about as street as my poodle.

Obviously you didn't grow up in the ghetto when you were younger. An area like Akron at that age, and under his circumstances, makes you grow up really quickly.

I lived in a homeless shelter when I was really young and then lived in the ghetto outside of Boston in the early 80s. There were gunshots at night and bullet casings in the street on my walk to the bus stop at the end of my block in the morning. I got out of there when I was 11 and I've done well in life since, does that mean I forgot all of my inner city experience?

I'll put my Eastern Kentucky up against your inner city any day. And yes growing up hard will make you grow up fast but I think LeBron over plays his hard knocks story.

Kid had a hummer with custom interior as a gift from his mother while he was still in high school, that is hard living right there.

Hahaha....That's what I was thinking. A shooting every week, gun shots and shell casing in the street (is that not the norm everywhere?)...that's just part of it in these rural coal mine town's and community's spotted across the country.

Yeah I feel so guilty that I was raised in a stable home, feel guilty that I grew up with 2 parents, feel guilt about that my parents did not reproduce until they had an education and jobs. I had it explained to me about my enjoyment of a lifestyle, get an education, develop skills and work hard and about what happens to your lifetime income level if you reproduce before you are educated and married. I understand that some people do not get the breaks in life and have a lot to overcome but crating children without a stable base leads to problems down the road.

You should let your guilt (I know you were being sarcastic) encourage you to mentor disadvantaged youths in your community and give them support and advice on following a path towards achievement in life rather than a path that recreates the mistakes their parents made; kind of like what Lebron does through the outreach programs he sponsors in Ohio with money he's earned. And then maybe you'll become a mentor phenomenon of sorts, start getting interviewed multiples times a day, then have people dissect every word you say and start threads picking you apart on random internet forums. Honestly though, with the negativity and know-it-all attitude you display daily on this forum towards veteran members and even brand new members, who are just starting out bowhunting and don't "know it all", I won't hold my breath.

Really, lot of jumps you made there, assumptions really and you are wrong. I have sent gear, equipment, camo and other assorted accessories to members here and others getting into the sport free of charge. I also coached for several years and even kept coaching so high school kids could get to experience coaching and working with you kids, I setup the high school refs association for high school football players reffing youth players. I also served on the youth sports association in the town I live in.

If I grew up to 7 feet tall with some physical abilities my life would be different also ! Maybe I should sue my parents for not getting the same genes as Lebron !
