I am just getting into traditional archery and have a question about arrow selection.

I have settled on what arrows I want the Carbon Express Heritage. Now my question is if I cut them down the my draw length 29"-30" would put me in the 250s at 11 gpi, but If I leave them uncut at 32" would put me into the 350s at 12 gpi.

Which would be the better way to go?

It all depends on how heavy your inserts and heads are. There is a lot to tuning an arrow. You might do a google search about tuning traditional arrows and you will probably find loads of info. In general, you have to get you arrows to bend around your riser. So if the arrows are on the stiff side (stiff/heavy spin), you will want more head weight and longer arrows. If your arrows are on the soft side (softer/weaker spine), you can cut them down. You just want to make sure your arrows are tuned to the bow you are shutting them with.

As far as arrow weight, it all depends on what you want to use them for. If you are hunting with them, you want more foc and a heavier arrow. Target shooting, it doesnt matter as much. The important thing is to get your arrow shooting properly out of your bow. You can then add weight if you need to for hunting. My hunting longbows are all in the 60-68lb area and my arrows are in the 630+ grain area. You can buy brass inserts or use weed eater line to add weight to your arrows. I have been using weed eater line to add weight to my arrows for years.
