Hell, I was a sports writer for three years at the state's largest daily independent paper in Arkansas leading to a stint as a sports editor for a while at another paper before I returned to school and obtained my master's... and I had no idea that a backwards pass that hit the ground is still considered a "live" ball and in play...

No different than a lateral, even more surprising was how he fielded that bounced pass so easily. I bet he couldn't do that on the next try.

We ran that same exact play in middle school football a few times per year... The bounce pass is easy... Not near as hard as it looks.

We quit running it in high school because older kids caught on to it. You bounce it to make it look like an incomplete pass so the defenders give up on the play.

Our coach would go speak to the refs pregame and tell them of our intentions on running the play so they would not accidentally blow the whistle and blow the play dead.

I bet yall had quite a few big plays on that one. Kind of like the ol' Sleeping-End play, any time you can confuse the defense it usually leads to big things on the offensive side!

I'm sorry, but it's kinda sad that a "sports writer" wouldn't know a basic rule in football.

No sadder than when an outdoorsman doen't think about what day his wedding is set on and how it will affect the rest of his life on that day. ;)

Gotta admire someone who respects a good witty comeback -- especially when it was directed at them. ;)

Best wishes for your wedding, Hooker.
