If you're legs are cold it because A) you're getting a draft through the waist of your clothes.B) you're just plane not wearing enough. C) you have no properly insulated your feet.

Its basically physiology, heat is lost in the extremities. Also, with peripheral artery issues becoming very common, so are "cold/numb legs"....We[hunters] are much more vulnerable to this because we expose our bodies to extreme temps and conditions.

Start by getting some "serious" socks....Overlap all of your layers at the waist.

Perhaps the best idea- wear either a bib suit or cover-all.

    Stay warm.

For gun season, I wear a pair of wool pants with a pair of flannel lined jeans under them. As far as otherwise.... a good pair of Carhartt long johns go a long way. Silk works great as well, and is much lighter weight and gives more ease of movement. Check Cabela's for the Extreme Cold Weather Gear. I've got a watch cap, glove liners, and the top and bottom under layers. Believe me, you won't get cold while using them. I've also been known to wear a pair of Carhartt bibs when it's really cold. And I'm talking -20 or colder here...
As far as your feet go, one things to rememeber is to not tie your boots too tight, and you can get away with a pair of tube socks with one pair of wool socks over them. just remember that if you can't wiggle your toes, your feet will get colder faster.

Usually when the weather is 30-40 around here I just wear a pair of long underwear and sweatpants walking in, and then I put on my fleece pants at the stand. I usually don't have a problem getting to chilled.

I wear cold weather Under Armor for a shirt, and have nothing but GREAT things to say about it, so I may give it a try for my legs sometme.

I sit seriously guys if I have a tag all the way until the end of December here in Minnesota. It's cold and negative windchills I will still hack it for a couple of hours.

I wear Smartwool long underwear, a layer of thermal underwear, then a layer of fleece, then a down vest then my Cabelas wind shear pants and jacket. 2 Hand warmers in the muff for my hands, with my Lacrosse Ice king boots and 1 pair of smartwool socks and I admit sometimes even cotton but my feet have yet to get cold in these boots. Guys cry their feet get cold but don't want to wear bulky boots. Guys won't happen, you need triple insulated boots from underneath where the cold comes. And presto good for 2 hours minimum and I had my eyelids freeze together when I close them. If it's colder than that I ain't hunting in that cold unless I am in Iowa. ;)
