1. I have a med weight minus 33 crew for my base, an expedition weight minus 33 zip up for my mid, a cabelas outfitter vest and then a hoodless jacket from grey wolf woolens. Should i trade out the expedition weight minus 33 for an under armour ayton fleece jacket/hoodie??They both look nice but i am unsure if they are warmer then the expedition wight? Also could the UA be more versatile? 2. I wear a 3.0 UA base layer bottom, insulated jeans and then Grey wolf woolen bibs. Should i add another layer in between the jeans and bibs? I would like to be easily prepared for temps from 40 down to 0. Last year my knees got cold one time and my chest another when it was about 25-30 out.
I dress different for 0 than 40. For me I cannot find one system to fit that wide a range of temps. I personally wear mostly UA gear. Although pricey I have found it to be useful and long lasting, I have some UA gear entering into their 5th season and they still look like new. This is coming from a GA boy though that doesn't care for cold weather.
I live in Iowa and have the unfortunate type of job that puts me out in all elements. UA base layers work really well. I wear a UA cold weather gear base layer, not the hunting one, but im sure they are rated about the same, and a pair of carhartt insulated bibs and jacket and thats it during the really cold spells we have. For hunting im using Tek 4 base right now, christmas present, so once that is worn out, ill be dropping the money on the UA clothes. Same for my bibs and jacket/parka.
Just looking for something to make the perfect layering system lol Think i will get rid of the UA leggings and think about getting a hood of some kind....
