Ken (NY Bowhunter) or anyone else that in knowledgable about lawn weeds. What is this weed and how can it be controlled? I have killed it will RoundUp but it came back and it spreads like fire. This stuff will grow alone the surface for a foot long or so.

My neighbor, who seems to know what he is talking about, calls that bermuda grass, wire grass.

Sure as heck looks like bermuda to me as well...

We had a Scots lawn guy out to give us an estimate earlier this summer, and I showed him a 40' x 40' patch of bermuda grass up next to the driveway. When I asked him how to get rid of it, he said "We could scoop about a foot of the topsoil off, put fresh dirt down, replant... and it's probably STILL come back.

In short, there's not much you can do it rid yourself of it, it appears.

You want to get really confused Rick.... check out this site. They wander back and forth between a couple pesky weeds and grasses.... but I think they have yours. LOL Most say, lots of luck. LOL

If it doesn't get tall enough to mow, my husband wants to plant it on our lawn.

    :sheep:
    Does it taste good?

Bermuda will grow just like your pics, when kept mowed to a very short length it looks nice, a lot of golf courses in my area use it in the fairways. But it will grow long and like a vine in a yard that is mowed at 2-4 inches. Only way to get rid of it is to spot kill it with round up.

I did that last year and it came back this year.
Too many people are saying it's Burmuda grass so I guess that's what it is.

Guess I'll get a bull dozer and a dump truck, that will get rid of it.

Send Johnny Miller a PM with the link to this thread. He owns a lawn company.
