I am planting clover and alfalfa I missed the window for frost seeding. I am planting in sandy soil and was considering renting a lawn roller to help with seed contact. Am I better off just raking the seed in?

Wonder if you can get the seed to 1/4" or so with a roller. Probably?

Figured the lawn roller would do as well as frost seeding. I will be raking the soil bed first with a wire tined rake before seeding. I will also be overseeding.

I used a lawn roller last fall to plant my WTI forage oats and it worked pretty well. Just make sure it is actually rolling and not just pushing the soil.

Packing in the clover seed with just your ATV tires works just fine.

I usually use my ATV tires with good success. Would really like to get a cultipacker, though.

For clover all you need is your atv tires, peas or oats need to get a little deeper, if you do the no till method of spraying 2 or 3 times with gly and then broadcasting your clover seeds into dead thatch would work also. Scoot
